Just watched the new profootball add with Tampa Bay saying "we are going to Disney World". It reminded me of our very first DCL cruise. We had the 3 day land/ 4 day cruise booked for months then 2 weeks out my stepson earned a trip with his AAU baseball team to Nationals in Memphis TN. It overlapped our trip! I began to panic.
My husband and stepson left on Saturday. Our TA had to jump through hoops getting their airfare rearranged since the entire trip was booked together but now we would be starting split up, two in Memphis and four out of Des Moines. I was in Des Moines getting the other three children ready to go. On Thursday morning I had the four of us at the airport by 5:00AM! When we arrived in St. Louis there at the gate was my wonderful husband and his son greeting us.
What I didn't know was that the team was winning! The last game David Jr. could play in, he pitched at no hitter and they won. My husband looked at his son and said the classic Disney line, "you just won what are you going to do next?" and David Jr. replied"I 'm going to Disney World!!!" And he was.
I still remember being in line at the new Test Track ride and Dave was on the cell phone talking to the coach and finding out their team won! I also remember that this was the first family vacation this blended family took where the kids never fought, and everyone had a fantastic time. I thank Disney for that. From that vacation on we only took DCL cruises. Now this March it will be the first cruise minus the boys, they are all in college. Kathy
