Sharing a Cabana? How did you split the cost?

I have a Family Beach Cabana booked for our upcoming cruise. I am debating the idea of offering it up to share with another family in my cruise group. For anyone that has done this how did you divide the cost? Did you just split it 50/50 regardless of family size? Would it make sense to divide the cost per person with each family paying that cost per family member?

ETA - I am a family of four.

For me, the fair way would be to split the basic cost (for first 6 people) 50/50. Then additional people would be paid for by whichever party they belong to. So, if your family has 5 people and the second family has 4 people (10 people max for family beach cabanas), you'd split the basic cost 50/50 (each of you pay for 3 people up front) and then you pay for 2 additional and the other room pays for 1 additional. If you only have 2 people, and the other party has 6, though, it wouldn't work out as fairly, and maybe the per person cost would be better.

But I believe only one room would be charged, so the second room would have to pay their costs to the person in the first room directly. I could be wrong about that.

Last year we asked our table mates if they wanted to share our Cabana and the cost was automatically split between our room and theirs.

Thanks Shmoo. I'm a family of 4. Ideally sharing it with another family of four would be easiest! I thought I read somewhere a long time ago that guest services could break up the transaction. I just don't want this to become something overly complicated. I don't need to share it from a financial perspective.....just trying to brighten someone's day :)

We always divide the total cost by the number of people (not split it 50/50 for three per cabin and then individual assess the extra charges suggested be previous poster). Either guest services, or the concierge if we're there, ensure the right charges go to the right people.

We are family of 3 and shared with family of 2. We weren't concierge and guest services was reluctant to split cost. The other family went to GS and applied payment to our cabin.

just double check a lot with GS that the transaction goes through the way you want - we split a cabana with friends and despite going to GS and explaining we wanted to pay half blah blah blah, they charged us and the reservation older the full amount. IE she didn't get credited for our part and was charged the full amount. we think it was a CM error, but this isn't the first time we've had an issue with trying to arrange nonstandard charging issues. just double check before you disembark to make sure it went down like you want. we didn't realize she hadn't been charged appropriately until we got home. EEK!

I asked GS once and they told me they'd be happy to split the charges with another room.

And I don't think you need a complicated sharing technique, just split it. They're already doing you a favor buy saving you a couple of hundred dollars, and you are doing them a favor by giving them access to a cabana. Going through "oh that's 4/7 for us and 3/7 for you" seems a bit out of whack to me. Just split it and have a great day sharing a rare commodity!

We have shared in the past and it was automatically split between our rooms with no issues.

Does anyone recall the basic cost for the cabana including Bahamian taxes? Customer service told me $590.18 and didn't know anything about the tax that gets added, so I am unclear if this quote is with or without the tax?

That amount includes taxes.

Base price for the Family Beach cabanas (except #21) is $549. With the Bahamian VAT it's $590.18.

I know this thread is a little old so does anyone have any recent information on splitting cabana costs? We are on a B2B this winter and have a Cabana for both Castaway stops. I don't think we can afford both each time so we are thinking of sharing. I'm trying to decide to find another family beforehand online or wait until we are on board. How do you split the cost among two staterooms. We are traveling s a family of four (myself, 2 daughters and my son; 12,10,8) as hubby has a golfing trip. Has anyone had a poor experience with sharing or a great one? I would love to hear. Thanks :)
