Just wondering how many of you have
shared your WDW bed with your child(ren)?
We have one DS, turning 2 on 1/31,
and going to WDW first time (w/him) in April.
We know a crib is not doable,
as Mr. Curiosity will be out of it while
DH & I snooze away!
So... I'll be sharing one of the double beds with him,
somehow utilizing bed rails.
I'm open to any advice/suggestions you may have,
and TIA!

I have had my 2 yr old sleep with me when we travel and theres only one bed and its only one night. I dont sleep too well though since he moves around, and ends up perpendicular to me (and kicks me). I did get him one of those aero beds for toddlers (the middles is recessed so they cant roll out easily) and he also has one of those inflatable sleeping bags that we used on a cruise since space was limited. He is used to sleeping in both and initially would not stay put in them, but does with no problem now. Hes been using them since he outgrew his portable crib just after he was 1.5 yrs old. You can find the bed online and the sleeping bag at Toys R Us or JC Penny online(different styles-we have a Bob the Builder and a new Sponge Bob one thats 3 in one (acts like a bed and a lounger). If you go that route, practice using it at home for awhile before taking it on the road so its not "new".

I have the same problem with my DS, he's a mover and kicker! When we go away he sleeps with Daddy and I get a bed to myself :D DH is a heavy sleeper and I'm not so he "wins". I'm not sure where you are staying but a few times we were able to move the bed against the wall. When we stayed at the ASSports we were able to do that. The deluxe hotels you really can't move them. Our DS is 5 now so we don't worry too much about him escaping. All the resorts have pack & PLays available too.

BTW some of the bedrails get a little gross looking from wear and tear. That's how we found out we could move the beds, the rail we got was so gross I didn't want DS to touch it.

I also have a 2 year old that shares my bed at Disney. I have to admit though that I never get a good nights sleep with her in my bed...for a little thing she sure takes up a huge portion of the bed...as I am hanging onto my side for dear life :D We have used the bedrails provided by the resorts and all the ones we have received seem to be pretty new, but I ususally put a pillow up against them or wrap a towel or sheet around the bedrail. On the other hand, my dh sleeps in the other bed by himself and sleeps like a baby!

We take our own pack and play for our grandson and put it between the beds at all-stars. There is just enough room! Then if he climbs out he climbs right into one of the beds waking an adult. He has never gone over the end!!! Guess the bed looks more fun. Usually it isn't much of a problem as he is so tired after a day of Disney he sleeps right through. He does toss and turn alot though so sleeping with him is a nightmare for the adult!

When we went we didn't stay at a WDW property, we were at OLCC and they didn't have bedrails for guests to use. I had already booked a bedrail, exersaucer and bouncy seat from A Baby's Best Friend (abbf.com). They are spotlessly clean. We would fall asleep in the room with her, sometimes in the bed, but would then get up once she was asleep. We had the bed against the wall and the other side had the rail. She is impossible to sleep with!! I am hoping when we visit this time that my youngest will not have learned how to climb out of a crib as the vacation home we have rented has set up a new crib for her :D

Have fun!

My youngest DD always end up in bed with me when we are on a trip. I have given up even having her share a bed with her sister.

If you absulutly cannot get rails on your bed on the side he/she is sleeping on put pillows on the floor (for any unexpected rolling) :grouphug:

Wow! Thank you all for your quick & great advice!
We're staying at ASMo, so it's good to know the bed
can be moved.
DS is now exactly 1/2 inch below 3 feet tall,
so the Pack & Play is not a good option
- but I'll make myself a note about it
being put between the beds "just in case."

I've heard great things about abbf, & had already
planned on taking their number w/us.
Sorry to hear about the experience w/gross bedrails...
Sounds like a good idea to put a pillow or towel around it!

Those aero beds for toddlers sound like a good idea,
I'm going to check them out (never even knew they made them).

Thanks again - blessings to you! :flower1:

Be sure to child proof the room, (medications locked or out of reach) just in case he gets up on his own and you sleep through it. When DS was little, DH and I took turns sleeping with him sometimes as each one of us would get a good nights sleep every other night. He also did fine in a pack and play as he would be tired at the end of the day.

I shared with my then 15 month old DD at Pop last March. The bed rails were very nice looking. I installed them on both sides so that if I when got out of bed before her, I could just raise the other rail. It worked out wonderfully for us.

When I went in Jan 2004 with DH, DD(4 1/2), DS(3), DD(1) and adult friend we rented a full size crib for baby but she only slept in it 1 night. I didn't sleep very well that trip with DH & DS in 1 queen, DD(4 1/2), DD(1) and I in the other and friend in the daybed. When we all went again in October I rented a toddler bed which DD(5) used. We all slept pretty well on that trip. I didn't find the side rails too grubby from the hotel and had great service from ABBF for crib and toddler bed.

Thank you!

Yep, the safety issue is being covered on our end,
I wouldn't be able to sleep at all unless I knew I'd
tried to cover every base I can think of - and then some!
Got great advice on other's threads, plus a very thorough
list from a hotel safety website.

mmiller: Just noticed you're in "the World" right now!
Hope you're having/had a blast!!

While our DDs 2 and 5 sleep in their own beds at home, they sleep with us on many family trips - usually one with each parent! Some of my best memories are at WDW cuddling in the morning talking about what we did the day/night before.

We've never actually gotten the bed rails. I always just take the two chairs from the table in the room and turn them around so the backs are up against the bed to prevent youngest (and older sister before) from falling off. We've also done the "pillows on the floor just in case" trick many times.

After the first night, my kids are usually so zonked after a day at Disney that they sleep much more soundly than they often do at home! :D

Aww.......... You're making me misty!!

Never would have thought of that - thanks!

We took our 1st family trip to WDW when our child was almost 2 1/2. We took his pack and play but did not use it. We stayed at the ASM. We had 2 double beds. We moved the night stand out and pushed the beds together. One bed was against the wall. We all slept together and did not have to worry about DS rolling off the bed. Housekeeping left our beds that way for 8 days. I hope you have a great trip.

Thanks 5kwallace - that's another great idea!
I can't thank everyone enough for all the wonderful input,
what would I do without the DIS??

Blessings!
