Shares, shares, shares please help !!

You will need to deposit the money into a share trading account so as long as you have a bank account to transfer the money from you should be fine:goodvibes

Right i have set up an halifax shares account, just waiting on email with account details, wish it would hurry up.

Just found this thread when doing a little research

It's been really helpful :goodvibes

I see that the offer of a £5 fee at Halifax has now ended, has anyone used anyone else to buy their shares or are Halifax the best/only option

Halifax are the easiest and among the cheapest to buy shares with if you live in the UK, as they don't charge a yearly admin fee for holding your shares, just the buying fee (and if appropriate, a selling fee if you decide to sell)

Thanks for your help, I am going to try and buy some today :thumbsup2

just bought mine with halifax.

I set up the dealing account last night and it only took 20 mins - after a few security questions you depostit your funds (minimum £100)

Purchased 20 shares this morning as they were only €3.65 this morning - so the whole lot cost me a grand total of £78 !! Baragain ..

Halifax send you the contract note via email so I have that, the membership form and a copy of my dealing statement to say I own 20 shares

I am just about to pop to the post office to send it off :D

can't believe how quick and easy it is ....

Hi,

Does anyone who already has their card know - if my mother in law bought some shares, obviously the card would be in her name - but as our surnames are the same could we use the card if she wasn't there...do they actually check it?

It would actually be us who paid for the shares, but she already has a sharedealing account and I thought it would just be easier for her to buy them rather than us set up the account thing through Halifax...

Thanks in advance
Rachel

A few years back & I would say they didn't bother. Now they have to get a manager to process the transaction & 90% of the time I have been asked for ID to make sure its me using it
