Hi everyone,

I got my shareholders card last June and used it on two trips last year! I have to say this was the best investment. However, after our December trip we felt we wouldnt be returning any time soon and I sold my shares... Silly now, I know!

Anyway I am due to return in a weeks time and I was wondering whether I could buy some shares today and update my membership seen as technically my 2 years should still be valid? Does anyone know whether I will still be able to use my card seen as I will still own shares it just wont be the shares I had when I registered my card?

I hope this makes sense, there is nothing on the internet at all and I dont fancy attempting to use the card in DLP without owning shares!

your shareholders card is valid for 2 years at a time, without any need for renewal or amendment.

You could, if you wanted to, buy more shares now, but you would not inform the shareholders club of this until your 2 years are up and you want to renew, as thats the only time they'll be remotely interested in how many shares you hold at the time :). They don't care how many you hold while your card is still running through its validity period (ie for you, until June 2013).

Your shareholders card is still valid, so you can use it with no problems.

Really wow, I kind of feel like a fraud!

Although I am intending on buying the 20 shares and will now be renewing! I think our stay at Santa Fe kind of just ruined the magic a little. Will not return to that hotel.

Ill maybe wait until after my trip then to buy the shares so I have more spending money. The kids will be pleased, there E65 spends will now be more like E81!

Cool!:thumbsup2

I sold my first lot of shares when the company that was holding them introduced an annual fee. I didn't rebuy until 6 months or so after my shareholders membership had run out but when I applied again for membership with the new shares, they used my old membership number.
BTW I did use my first card at DLP at a time when I didn't actually hold any shares too. :)

Thanks Gill, that is a little more reassuring. I suppose I paid my E30 however I have definately saved more than that just on the xmas santa fe hotel booking let alone the fortune we've saved on meals, toys and value that we gained from Salon Mickey!

I thought this one may be a tricky one for you guys to answer but yet again you found me the answer!

Thanks

Don't, because you're not doing anything wrong. I expect a lot of people sell their shares before their shareholders card expiry date is reached and it's why they request proof of share ownership when it's due for renewal.

When you come to buy them again keep an eye on Halifax - there's an offer of reduced commission fee on international shares next week and they do this offer quite regularly.
