I leave for the Yacht Club in less than two weeks! This trip is just my dad and I. Since this is his first time ever staying at one of the Epcot resorts I really want to make it special for him. So I would love to hear all of your Yacht Club (and Boardwalk Area) secrets! Thanks!

Melissa

If Stormalong Bay is too much for you (due to crowds, size and all those little kids running around), try the YC quiet pool, which is in a very quiet and secluded part of the resort and is never very crowded.

When coming from any of the parks via WDW transport (boat or bus), unless the YC is the first stop, get off at the first stop (Swan or Dolphin) and walk from there to YC. It is a moderate walk (5 minutes or so) and is much quicker than staying on the bus or boat to the YC stop.

It's a very quick walk to the Boardwalk bakery, which offers excellent breakfast. Also, make sure to head to the Boardwalk one evening. It's a great atmosphere. You should definitely try to make it to Beaches and Cream one day. Remember to keep an eye out for which boat is going where when you're at the dock. It's very easy to get distracted when they arrive at the same time.

If you are in a standard room view, request a view of the wedding gazebo. It is the best view for the price...nice garden and you might get to see a wedding or two. I still remember the people clapping from the balconies at our wedding!

The hot tub at the quiet pool is heavenly. The ones at Stormalong Bay are way too noisy. The Yacht Club Galley is a nice place for any meal of the day and it's not often crowded.

We had a standard view room this past June with a lovely view of the wedding gazebo (rm 1154). It was a great location because it was on the first floor (no elevators to wait for) and was a very short walk from the lobby. We saw 4 or 5 weddings during the 6 nights we were there.

We do have a standard room booked, so I'll ask about the gazebo (if we don't get the coveted upgrade of course ;) ) Thanks for the great suggestion guys!

We just returned from 11 nights at YC. Some things we would recommend have already been covered...

• Beaches and Cream
• YC Galley
• Hot Tubs

We took the busses for 10 days and I can't remember a time when we were not the first drop off. We also took the boat to Disney Studios even though it is within walking distance...our children are 10 and 6 and held up admirably, but that would have pushed them over the edge.

Other things we enjoyed...

• Sitting on the porch area in a rocker and watching the world go by
• Searching the giant globe in the lobby for the hidden mickey
* Yachtsman Steakhouse

Things we wanted to do but didn't have time for...

• Bonfire and s'mores on the beach
• Renting a boat on the lake
• Sitting on the swings on the beach
• Renting a surrey bike and riding the YC/BC/Boardwalk loop
• Movie night on the beach

Hope you have a terrific time!

Well, to be fair, 1 day was eaten up by travel (from CA). We arrived at 8:30 p.m. and only had time to eat dinner, unpack and sleep. But, yes there is a ton to do! Most of our lack of participation in the nighttime activities was because we were usually back at the parks at dinner time and into the evening and since we wanted to be up early each morning, we did not stay up too late most nights.

We could not have had a better room, honestly. We paid for a lagoon view (I think YC specifices lagoon view Concierge, where the rest call it water view including pools, etc.) and our room was FANTASTIC! We were in 5181. Almost directly over the back entrance with a full view of the Boardwalk. We were also about 10 rooms away from the lounge and elevator. It did not seem like the Concierge floor here had the rooms that were a mile away from the lounge, etc like I have heard in other hotels, but perhaps I was not fully aware of how far they went down the hallway.

The CMs were really helpful. In fact by the end of our trip, they were all involved in searching for 2 monorail pins my son needed to 'complete the set' he had been trading for. They found juice bottles for us for our son who has Diabetes and provided us with a steady supply of chocolate milk for his mid-morning snacks. Mousekeeping was terrific (look for a nice Mousekeeper named Fenelita - great towel animals). The lounge is nice with a cute little seating area for the children. We ate breakfast there every day except one. The food was a bit repetitive, but we were fine with it. Enjoyed having access to snacks all day and coffee/hot chocolate at night. Only one time found it so crowded that there was only 1 table left. Mostly, there were only one or two other families there.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I sound like a broken record in every post I make about it, but we felt like royalty every day we were there.

Hope you have a great time!

Thanks for sharing!
And you are right...Club Level rooms are Lagoon or Garden..!
I am so looking forward to our stay! IPO has been wonderful with some pre planning.
I just saw where you are from, so I see why you kind of "lost" a day. You live in my families other fave part of the World!:) My in laws live in Portola Valley and we always fly into SJC..sorry off topic!
Thanks again, so how many times have you been?
I am sure all this info is helping our OP:) She is leaving soon I think!!!

Daneen -

Thank you, thank you for all the details of your trip! We are leaving in..5 DAYS for YC!!! We have 10 days and I know it's still not "enough" time - but certainly longest on-property ever! Great to hear about service and mousekeeping!

DisneyBride - we will look for you!!!

Reading this thread has gotten me excited :yay: for our upcoming trip. We decided to pay the extra money and stay at Yacht Club this trip, we are POP addicts. Keep the secrets coming:thumbsup2

dannenm: I will second your recommendation about your location in the hotel as far as rooms go. I have been in 5175, 5177, 5179, and 5183. This is my favorite section, not too far from the lounge and elevators but far enough away that there is absolutely no noise!! Also, the view is fantastic. Directly over the back entrance the view of people coming and going and Crescent Lake in the background with the boats and the lights of the Boardwalk at night is so relaxing. The lighthouse is directly in the view also and the corner of the marina. Look left and you see the rocking chairs on the porch area just in front of SAB.

I'm coming from CA too, so I know all about the time lost to travel. I have one last question: what time does SAB close at night? I can't remember from the last time I stayed there.

Melissa

When we were there in April it stayed open until 9:00 pm. I've also heard of it closing at 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm. I think it varies according to the time of year. Ask when you check in to be sure. Remember the quiet pool is open 24 hours.

NO direct flights from the SF Bay Area to Orlando! What a bummer that was.

I believe it closes at 10 - we were never there that late. You might call and ask, as it seems to me that in June people were saying it closed at 8. Could just be it was 10 because we were at the height of the tourist season. I believe the quiet pools are open 24 hours.
