Pretty ornaments ! I don't have my tree up yet, but as soon as I do, I'll post some of mine. I'm heading to WDW this Friday so I may even pick up a couple new ones.
Thanks for posting.

I posted this in the low lighting thread, but I'll post it here too

Here are some of mine. I need more practice on low/available light photography; I had to do a lot of quick fixing in PSE4.

I decorate my Christmas tree entirely with ornaments of animated characters (not all are Disney characters, but I'm sure you'll recognize some familiar faces / body parts):

Tara decorated our tree this weekend. I think she has a calling! It looks awesome. We have quite a few ornaments, I will have to take some photos! Gives me a reason to stop working!

A few more of ours...

Not Disney - Just my youngest's reflection...

Well, this isn't an ORNAMENT per se, but it is around our tree, and it is Disney-related!

We went out and cut down our tree this afternoon and so I was able to put our monorail about the tree for the first time. (Which my 20-month-old went bonkers for!) I thought it might be fun to do something a little artsy...

Christmas2006-01.jpg

This was done by putting the camera on a low tripod (actually I used the Clamperpod stuck on the thick, square leg of an old telescope tripod), setting it to bulb mode and manual focus, trying a couple different apertures, and using a remote shutter release. I'd back the monorail up enough to give me a few seconds, then as it came into view (not through the viewfinder - too low - but composing ahead of time and knowing when it's be in frame) I'd open the shutter for 2-2.5 seconds, and just before closing the shutter, I'd fire my very old flash unit from my 35mm (loose, not attached to a camera.) The first photo, I shot it directly at the scene and it was completely blown out. After that, I shot it in the opposite direction, and there were enough reflections to give a ghostly image on the monorail, with a trail from its green headlights. When all was said and done, I did a little color tweaking and cleanup, and voila.

The background could use a little improving (like not having a power outlet there) but I was just experimenting while a movie was on the TV.

(edit: I had to redo the URL as I created higher-quality resizes on my site and the folders changed.)

Very nice!

Happy Holidays everyone!

My new tripod arrived today so I figured that was a good excuse to take another few shots...

I actually took the photo at every aperture that my 50mm would go at, 1.4 to 22, to compare how the different shots look. Talk about a difference in depth of field at the two extremes! At F22, everything you can see was in focus. At the low ones (like this one - F2.0), I couldn't keep the hands and the eyes in focus at the same time. I also hadn't noticed that apparently their noses broke off at some point!

Well, this isn't MY ornament, but a photo of the ornament at YC Christmas tree in the lobby, taken 2 weeks ago.

There is more Disney on the tree but this is the only one I took a picture of last year and the tree hasn't gone up yet this year.
