Hiya,

Can some helpful shareholder please give me some help.

I've today opened a shareholder dealing account with Halifax online but they've not asked for any Id? Is this normal? Do I just order 20 shares now, or should I wait to see if price changes? What do I do after ordering? Ask them for proof?

Thanks very much and thanks disboards as wouldn't have known about shares otherwise xxx

Hi

When and I bought shares last month i just transferred £100 to the account and was sent by e-mail my log in the same day.

I waited to buy shares as i didn't want to spend over £4.00 each for them so checked for a couple of says until they came down to £3.95. I forgot that this was in Euros so the actual price I paid was £3.12 a share. I bought 21 (just to be sure). I was also charged £11.95 for the transaction so just transferred the reminder of the £100 back to my own bank account.

I then send off for the shareholder card. I printed off the note from the internet and just ripped off the bottom with the web details on and blanked out on the top the other information on the right side (can't remember what it said) and e-mailed it all.

They accepted this without any problem and am just waiting for my card.

Hope this helps.:goodvibes

Sometimes Halifax have an offer on the transaction fee. I bought some shares in July and only paid £3.95 for the trade rather than the usual £11.95. If you are not in any hurry for the shares, might be worth waiting to see if they do another one. I only found out about it because someone very kindly posted about it on this forum and it was that that gave me the gentle nudge I needed to finally buy the shares.:)
