Share certificates

Hey,

Really sorry to be emailing about shares again! I'm trying to find out how to get my share certificate from Selftrade. They are now charging maintenance and I don't do any trading so is an absolute waste for me.

The first person I spoke to said it would be easy, £20 then it's mine. The next said that as it is a foreign company they can't get the certificate. Who is right? Anyone have any experience with this?

I can remember quite a lot of DISers moving their shares from Selftrade a few years ago when they started to charge maintenance fees - is this what you mean? I think most of them moved to the Halifax who don't charge maintenance fees at present. I'll see if I can find the thread.

I think we previous selftraders with DLP shares ended up selling our shares and then buying again with the Halifax - thats certainly what I did, last year (or maybe even the year before). I never got a shares certificate from Selftrade, and I don't have one with the Halifax either, I have a contract note which is printed off my online Halifax sharedealing account when I need it.

I knew there was a maintenance fee, but as my account keeps locking and they send pins that don't work I hadn't kept a close eye on it. The man I spoke to yesterday said he'd call back today, but didn't!

Looks like I'll be hunting down a new share account! Thank you
