So I am just dreaming, of course, but would love to hear any rumors out there right now about the possibility. I think many of us west coasters are wondering whether the DL marketing that they have doing has partially been as an effort to gauge interest amongst west coasters.

Has anyone heard anything?

Sorry if the title of this thread lead readers to believe that I had any new info. I don't. :-(

We are going down to stay at the Grand Californian on points in July. A wonderful getaway that could only be made better if that phrase read "the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian"! :cloud9:

Nothing to share except I TOTALLY AGREE!

We bought DVC when we still lived in Michigan. Now that we're in Phoenix, having a DVC & DLR would make for some nice 3-4 day trips....

As another west coaster we'd love it too!

happyrebster - how's the weather? We're doing the SF to Vancouver cruise pretty soon.

I would love to see it. Since we've started our WDW fix (reinforced by DVC purchase), we have not been down to DL in almost 5 years. I definitely miss it. No excuse for not making a quick trip down there I know, but having a DL proximity would help.

I've wondered about the Strawberry patch. I remember a website started by Imagineers a few years ago with speculation on what the Strawberry patch would become. I've always thought they could make part of GC a DVC if they really wanted to. Wishful thinking, but that would be a great location.

Do you think the staying habits might be different? Rather than a full week at WDW, people may opt a long weekend at DL? Would that mess with their capacity planning? How many east coasters would come west vs. west coasters making a quick trip every now and then? Still, would love to see it. Our guide moved from Florida to DL to man the DVC kiosk, kept thinking that this would be a good precursor to something happening.

Cool cruise -- that sounds great! I love cruising! We are sailing the Wonder in December and I can't wait!

As to weather, it has been an amazing spring up here in the greater Puget Sound area (I live on an island in Puget Sound). Lots of :sunny: :sunny: here today and more expected throughout the week . . . I'd say you have chosen an excellent time to come visit! Have a blast! :wave2:

Hey fellow Seattle person!! :wave2: Are you lovin this :sunny: today or what?!?

We actually have used points to stay at the GC twice just because we didn't have time to make it all the way out to Florida; but would be much happier (and would visit even more often) if I had SSR type accomodations at DL.

I think Disney is actively trying to drive more traffic to DL and this would certainly help. I also think it would help them to drive more DVC sales among West coasters.

I think they would probably like to do it and the only serious constraint is, obviously, real estate. But I am curious to see what time will bring. I have a good feeling about it; but wish like heck that I had some inside connnection so that I could find out what DVC planners had in store for us . . . :yay:

I def think it would alter travel patterns. We travel with a toddler and that two hour flight to so cal is so much easier and cheaper than the six hour flight (if we go direct!) to FL. I think it would actually help them to balance out traffic amongst the parks. And, yes, I think that reassigning guides out west is a sign that they are not just trying to drive sales here of existing DVC (how many folks are they really going to convince that they should fly to FL every year from the west coast?) but that they are trying gauge general interest in the concept amongst west coast folks. And I think interest is high!

Well we live 15 minutes from Disneyland, and in the past we have never really even considered staying on property.

I am not really sure if DVC would change that for us.

But for other families within driving distance(few hours) I can see how it would be great. Only way we would use it is if we were in a losing our points situation.

Definitely loving the weather today (or at least the view out my office window) :-)

I agree about the flights (2 hours vs. 6 hours), I'd love a DVC incentive to hit DL every now and then. I love WDW, but I still have to rate a stroll through New Orleans Square and dinner at the Blue Bayou as my all time favorite Disney experience.

Indeed. I am always disappointed by Pirates at WDW. And nothing tops Blue Bayou!

Go get outside for a bit -- it's awesome! :bounce: :bounce:
