I am new here. Well, I am new to posting here, I have been reading the DIS for a lot longer.

One of the things I enjoy is reading everyone’s stories about great trades or memorable meets or anything Ed does :jester: (and the story behind the story from Donna! :smooth: )

I was hoping some of you could share some of the great stories of pin trading. Here’s mine…

Just as they started the Mystery pins in WDW, I saw the 4 park dangle on-line and that became my Holy Grail. I knew I would never get the pin, I had some Hallmark pins and TDS pins to trade, but nothing close to enough to trade for a Mystery pin.

At the Animal Kingdom one day Rick lost his room key/park pass. (just like a man  ) and we went back to the last place he knew he had it, a pin cart. The CM there looked around for us, but no key. He was great, we asked him questions, and he showed us some new pins, he even traded a pin Rick had for a Tokyo Disneyland Kabuki Mickey. Rick was in heaven. :sunny:

Then he opens the drawer and asks if we are interested in a couple of pins he found in the back the other day. Out come two Mystery Banner pins! :earseek: :earseek: I had been keeping up with the pins online so I knew what they were, Rick didn’t know and almost said no! I told him to keep quiet and bought the two pins we were offered.

Two days later we ran into some traders at MGM. After Rick had made his trade, one gentleman mentioned he was hoping to trade for the Banner pin, I told him I had one, but was looking for the Dangle pin. What does he pull out of his bag? Yep, my Holy Grail! I asked if he was interested in trading. Now this guy knew what he was doing, he told me he couldn’t trade one for one, but he would look at what else I had. I showed him my pitiful little collection, and a miracle happened. His wife had told him to get all of the 101 Disney Store pins and I had one of the four that he still needed! So Chip and Dale and the Banner went to him and I got my Holy Grail! I was shaking. I could not believe it. I think I looked at the pin just to be sure it was still there for about 3 weeks.

Later, in one of my first online trades, I was able to trade to get Chip and Dale back, they are my favorite you know!

So what story do you have to share?

Pam

49 days to Trip One, 92 days to the Big Event! Yeah! Our first real pin event!

After nearly 1 1/2 yrs...I still don't have my Holy Grail Pin...and even worse ...I don't know what my Holy grail pin is..there are just toooooo many choices, and everytime I think I know what it should be...I see something I like better...

Sounds just like a women doesn't it..There I said it for you..I'm sure someone (maybe Raul) would come up w/ that one..

See you soon Pam

I LOVED your story Pam!
I have a story, not as exciting but still one of my favorite stories!

I have wanted the Wedding Pavilion pin #2817 for a good while. When it first came out, it was a more harder to get pin (at least for me, being in Philadelphia!). I didn't actively try to buy or trade for it, knowing I wasn't ready to frame anyway. My plan was to have that be the centerpiece of the framing of the Wedding pins from 2000, plus the Mickey and Minnie bride and groom.

But I came across it on someones trade list. He wanted a few harder to find pins of mine, so we emailed back and forth several times, working out the trade for several pins each. He emailed me on the Saturday before Mother's Day around 2pm, finally agreeing to my offer, which among other pins, included the Wedding Pavilion pin.
I did not get into my mail until around 10pm on Sunday nite. Busy with my son and then the Mother's Day visits!
But in my mailbox was another email from him, written around 9pm Sunday. Up to this point his emails had been very friendly, with 'good morning' or 'good evening' etc. This 9pm email simply stated (yes in caps). THESE PINS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE
I was baffled, sent him a friendly email saying "I don't understand. Do you mean that you no longer wish to trade with me?"
His reply "Yes that is correct. In light of no response, I have decided not to trade"
No response? It was only 18 hours!!!!!!! Well I was angry and confused. I just wrote back saying 'FINE. It is Mother's Day today and I spent it with my son!"
He never contacted me again.
But it wasn't fine. I was sad. Added him to my "never trade with this nut again list' and finally got over it.

BUT.....here is the HAPPY part.......I came across someone selling pins on a sale board. She had the Wedding Pavilion AT COST!!!!!!
So now I have it!
So the moral of the story?
One-LynniethePooh can ramble
Two-sometimes you just have wait and the right pin comes along at the right time!
Three- Poop on that trader, but GO ME!

No one else has any good pintrading stories to tell?

I thought I would get at least a couple.

Oh well.

Hmm...lemme see here...my holy grail is the Haunted Mansion Dangle pin from a few years ago...Im sure Ill never get it, but thats half the fun, looking for it. :)

Do I have any pin tradin' stories to tell? Well yeah, but theres so many...where do I start? LoL!!! Im not sure what the funniest one is, probably involves Raulandpinboy! LoL!!!

Buggin'
