Are there designated places where the parade stops during the route?

Are there opportunities for child participation at the stops?

Last year it stopped right past the Hall of Presidents, going toward main street. They let alot of the children come out in the street and dance with the Characters

What accident would that be??

Also I didn't see it stop this year when we were down in December.

A CM was killed during a parade, but I don't remember which parade it was. :sad1:

I remember reading about this incident in the UK press. If I recall correctly the guy was actually killed in the holding area where they line up in position prior to the parade. One of the floats was being moved into place and he was crushed when he failed to see it reversing towards him. The newspaper report stressed that it was not witnessed by any member of the public. I am unaware of any changes being made to the actual parade as a result.

It was the Share a Dream parade at MK where the CM in costume was killed.

OMG what happened?? I never heard about this!!
D.D.

We saw the Share a Dream Come True parade a few weeks ago, and it didn't stop at all en route.

Thanks for the info everyone. Sorry to hear about the accident with the CM.

Yes, it used to make stops before the accident. We watched the parade a couple of days before the accident from right in front of the Train Station and it did stop right in front of us. As far as I know they don't make any stops now. We were at the MK the day of the accident but left before the parade. We didn't find out about it until after we got home. Very sad.

Yes, it happened "behind the scenes" and it was the Share a Dream Come True parade. It was a CM dressed as Pluto and it happened around the same time as the Tigger incident - which got more press. Disney was fined by OSHA, but I think it was a fairly small fine, that they were not completely following some required standards...

I was very sad for the CM, such a sad accident.

As for the parade stopping along the way or whether or not it's been changed since the accident, I'm not sure of those answers...sorry.

Because the float that was involved in the accident was dismantled and removed from the parade, they have not done show stops since the accident. The Princess float used to be 3 snowglobes attached together with one driver. The CM was pinned under one of the "attached" floats (the driver would have never seen him). The float was dismantled and only a portion of it was returned to the parade (the Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother part). All the other Princess's were put on the Lead float from the old Remember the Magic Parade (the one that is not a snowglobe). The stops were illiminated because of many reasons... for one the show stop music is on the floats themselves, which the "non-snowglobe float" does not have, the Princess' do not have choreography for showstops (they were not able to get off the original float) so it would be out of place and akward and for obvious safety reasons, show stops were removed from the parade.

Thank you for the clarification Liberty Belle! I didn't realize the music was actually "attached" to the float.

I heard about the poor CM getting killed, but what's the 'Tigger incident'? Also where's the best place to view the parade in your opinion? How early would you need to save a place in Jan (12th)?

If anyone saw the final Christmas Parade of the year yesterday at 4pm, the CM's had a very subtle tribute in memory of 'Pluto' who was killed last February. A stuffed holiday Pluto was passed from the Pluto CM at the beginning of the parade all the way to Santa at the end of the parade. All the parade units got to hold the stuffed Pluto for a while. For those who notice and understood , it was a very touching tribute.

Thank you for posting that :) I did not get to see that, but I am glad to know that it happened. Javier was a friend of mine and is very deeply missed among all of us. Most of the CM's have A black and yellow (gold) ribbon (Pluto colors) that they wear underneath their outter costume in his memory.
