When my kids were little I had two paperback books that had really cute cakes that I referred to as "shape cakes". They were for different holidays and ones you could use for birthdays. You would cut out and decorate with coconut and various candies. Does anyone no if they still make those books because sadly I gave mine away and now wish I hadn't done that.

I have a few of Mom's old ones and a few new ones. I've always called them "cut-up cakes." I did a quick search on Amazon for cut-up cake and shape cakes, there were books in both catagories. Go take a look.

Also www.familyfun.com has cute cakes on their site with clear instructions of how to create them.

Funny, today on the way to school my boys were talking about which cakes were their favoriites from all the birthday cakes I've made over the years!

I was also going to suggest the family fun website that Katy Belle linked to.

There are several of these types of cookbooks on ebay right now: Here is the link

Hope that helps!

Subscribe to this thread over on the CB. These gals are so inventive. It's a delight to look forward to their next cakes. They might also have an answer for you. :)

Anyone in here decorate cakes?
