Shanta's 12/3-15 Trip Report... finally!

Yes, we were in the 1700 loop. You should have left a note and we could have connected during our stay. Are you going to be at The Fort next year? As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I will post them of the inside and our of our motorhome.:mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjum

No matter how many times I go or how long I stay at the Fort, I always love reading TR's and seeing pictures from other's trips. Guess it lets me go back for a visit, even while sitting in my living room.

HI, we plan on being at the Fort next Dec and are looking at the full hook up sites. Can you describe the the site you were in and give us the good and bad about the 1700 loop?

Thanks,

I know you asked this of Disneylitch, but I thought I might share my impressions of 1700. About 1/3 of the outside sites back-up to Big Pine Trail, which is a rather busy road. There are quite a few rather quiet sites that back up to the woods (1715-1724). The rest back up to other sites on the 1900 loop. There are 2 comfort stations that service this loop, one shared with 1900 and one shared with 1600 & 1800. Median walking distance to the pool is 1/3 of a mile, the trading post and campfire are both .43 miles, the dog park is .6 mi, Pioneer Hall is .91 mi and the launches are .93 mi. In the other direction, the Outpost Bus Depot is .73 mi. The loop is mostly shady and the sites are fairly large with a paved pad at the front and a sand pad at the rear. If you will have a cart, or prefer solitude over access to amenities, then 1700-1900 may be the ideal loops for you.

Sure I could! Give me a site number and I'll give you turn-by-turn directions and distances in feet (+-10)! Because, yes, I AM THAT GEEKY!

Hey Shan
I want to thank you for your most excellent trip report and also thank you for the info you provided on the 1700 loop. We have camped in the 200 and 300 in past years and will be at the Fort for about three weeks in Dec and Jan 2011.
We thought we'd try the full hook up sites in the 1600-1900 loops for a more peacefull and quiet experience.

We will have bikes and are looking for large private quiet sites so the info you gave is great. Can you provide similar info on the other full hook up loops?

I for one appreciate the specifics you provide!!

This is one of a handful of TRs that I have ever read. I am usually looking for specific info. But I had to read this one when I saw it was from you. I knew the adventures of the real Santa would be worth the time.
Well of course it was. Thank you so much. I am really sorry about your illness on the way home. Our 1st and only trip had similar results for my DH.
I don't drive will pulling a 32ft TT. So I was NO help to him at all. I have thought about trying to learn, but I think that there are some people that are just not cut out for it.
Thanks again for such an enjoyable TR.

By the way I'm going back the week before Halloween. I would love to see you, It would be fun for Santa to holiday before his busy time of year. Let me know if you can make it.
:santa:

I was gonna say, I'd like you to take that out to 4 decimal places if you don't mind. Maybe make a conversion table for the exact amount of steps if walking and rotations of a 26" bicycle tire. It would be much appreciated.

Great Report! It's funny to here you talk about Summerfield and The Villages, that's my neighborhood!

Thanks for the encouragement Tab2Disney, Meggymouse and Goofyseven. Donnie, I'll take your ideas into account as I build the master Distances at Fort Wilderness Excel spreadsheet! Maybe I'll let you dial in wheel size and preferred gear and calculate strokes needed. LOL!

Shanta,
Love your report!

I am wondering if maybe i ran in to you. Were you in MK on sunday, Dec. 6th? I had walked out of the Christmas store over to Liberty Tree Tavern and i saw "santa" sitting on a bench there along the walk way and i said HI SANTA and he replied "i'm not santa, i'm his younger brother". Was that YOU? I laughed, thought it was funny and this man really resembled you.

Just wondering!

Nope, not me... I would never give that response. I would always "own it" and reply with either a "hi" or a "merry Christmas", even if security were hovering around me! Now, if there were a Disney Santa nearby I would back down and say that I am Santa's helper... but never brother. Hope you had a jolly time.

oh ok! thanks for letting me know. He probably heard that a million times, as you do as well. We did have a jolly time; had no idea you were there at the same time. i was not staying at the fort this time; we were at Boardwalk Villas.
Of course, i always take time to visit the fort!

Just so you know that there are many lives that you touch, and that we're sometimes connected in the oddest ways.... here's a photo of you and my dear Mama at the Fort during this trip.... it was her first trip to Disney, and she was constantly in wonder.... you added to that magic.

Wow! How fun. It's amazing that just today I was forwarded this web address that someone else had posted a picture of me to. It really is something how our lives intersect. Thank you so much for sharing this photo, and I assure you, getting the opportunity to pose for photos like this impart as much magic to my vacation as I ever could to someone else's! I'm glad your Mama had a wonder-filled trip.
