We were on Carnival last week and although we had a great time...I was alittle dissapointed in the adult area...it just wasnt Disney...I was constantly comparing everything to Disney...lol..as I said it was fun and we had a good time...but I was thinking while we were there...I cant wait til Dec. We will be sailing on the Wonder again. We are booked on the Dec 7 sailing. But...when I got home I got papers in the mail from my ex's atty...hes planning on taking me to court... I cant get intouch with my atty til monday or tuesday..but am afraid the court date according to the atty I spoke with will be the 1st week in Dec..so we may have to cancel...and with our 75 day mark approaching Im getting nervous. So if anyone has any extra Pixie dust out there...send it my way....I dont wanna cancel... my kids have been looking forward to this trip since our last trip on Disney a yr ago..

Tell your attorney that you are not available that week and he can haggle with your ex's attorney and the judge to set a more convenient date.

Sorry you have to go through that.

Its a Custody/visitation issue and probably best Im there...not to mention the extra expense of the atty...but....wish me luck

I certainly didn't mean to imply that you not be there. I just meant that the attorneys and the judge can come up with a date that all parties can attend.

I wish...it would thrill him to no end to know he had stopped us from taking them on vacation... he has tried to stop us before.. I have sole custody and he hasnt had any luck being successful so far...so maybe my luck will last...thanks for the Pixie Dust....

I knew you didnt mean it that way and I didnt take it like that at all...I hope to find out something one day this week on that...I think this is why he has waited til now to file papers...he knew we had this trip planned..

Can you tell me which Carnival boat you were on? You mentioned the "adult area," which makes me wonder if you were on the Inspiration or Imagination since they have the new Serenity adults-only deck area. We are working on some spring break plans for April 2009 and in light of the Baltic rumors for 2010, we have got to keep our 2009 budget in check. I've been looking at both the Imagination and Inspiration as possible options, but I'm terribly afraid that I'd spend the whole time comparing things to DCL and being disappointed.

Thanks ..hopefully it will all work out... Yes, We were on the Imagination and it was the Serenity adult area...Like I said...we enjoyed our trip...but I wasnt impressed with that area at all...there is no bar....no pool...just 2 hot tubs (which werent hot at all) and LOTS of chairs all close together...if you get a towel from them... it has to be turned in by 7:45...and if you want a drink...you have to go up a flight of stairs to one of the bars...even for sodas..or water...they do have waiters walking around during the days..but we saw no one in the evenings...It did not impress me..and yes I was comparing it to Disneys area..lol....I liked the decks on the back with the pool before they refurbished them much better... everyone has different opinions and Im sure there were some that liked that area...but to me...no comparison...Disney's is better...The water park was nice....great for the kids...I give them a thumbs up for that...except for the fact they closed at 5 I believe..I know it was early evening...I have to admit...I was constantly comparing...and well...was dissapointed in alot of things...even the room service menu wasnt as good and had only a few items to choose from. I did find somethings to be better since I had cruised with Carnival last..( we have cruised with Carnival 8 times prior to this one)...the main pool and hot tubs on Lido deck were open later than they used to be. But to be honest...if I had it do over...I would have cancelled that one and went with 4 days on Disney and paid the extra..We got a really good deal on the Imagination and it was too good turn down..around 250 each...with that said...I have a 7 days Southern Carribean booked with Carnival next yr...for the main reason....price and ports it visits...but if I find a deal with Disney and ports we havent visited...I will of course cancel and go with Disney....hopefully no one will Flame me...as I said..Im not putting down Carnival at all...and probably will sail them again...but as someone said...you get what you pay for... good luck in what ever you decide..

is it possible that your ex is jealous that your going on the cruise and hes trying to mess the cruise up so you cant go? you would of think he would of told his lawyer we cant go to court from such and such dates because they will be on the cruise.

I have this same worry with my ex. We are currently seperated and I am taking my kids on a 3 day Wonder Cruise on 10/16/08. Well I went after him for Child Support back in February, and he was finally serverd in August. He of course is contesting the child support and requesting a hearing that will land on the 3rd Thursday of October. right when we will be setting sail. We just broke the news to him about the cruise 2 days ago, so he didn't intentionally make it happen like this. But still, things always have to he difficult. Anyways I have been told I can request an continuance if I need to. Is that possible in your case?

Im sure thats his whole reason for him waiting til now to do this...to try and stop us from going since he is trying to be up things from a few yrs back just now instead of then...not to mention hes quiet a bit behind in child support..this is his way of trying to get out paying the past due on that..he is very jealous of the relationship my kids have with their step father because he does things like this with them and they are close to my hubby. But hopefully I will get the ok from my atty this week and we wont have to cancel. Im worried that we will have to cancel after our 75 day mark and loose our money...we paid our trip off back in March...and have been anxiously awaiting for it to get here...I even have family members booked with us as well...moms and aunts grandmas...etc...cross your fingers for us..

I could do that as far as Child Support..infact the Motion he filed (without an atty) was dismissed by the judge..the second hearing was continued by his lawyer and we go to court the 27th of Oct. for the 3rd time for child support..He has since deicded to take me for Custody Im guessing because he is so far behind in his child support pymts. I dont think he will stand a chance getting it...hes told the child support atty hes living in a camper and needs a reduction in the amount he pays...so Im not to worried about that aspect of him getting custody...hopefully we will have a resolution by the time our 75 day mark gets here..next week... and I wont have to cancel at the last minute and lose our money..and I certainly dont want to him lose by default by not being there in court.. He did this with his ex wife when his daughter was 2..so therefore Im willing to bet he would try it again..and hope the court date would fall on a day we are supposed to be cruising..then Id have to cancel....lose money...or he could win by me not appearing in court..oh the joys of an Ex....

Yep, there is a reason why they are "Ex's". I think it is sad we have to take these men to court to get them to pay for thier children. When we told mine about the cruise I was waiting for him to say "If you can afford a cruise you don't need the child support". But he didn't. Good luck, I hope it all works out. I feel your frustration!

So selfish. I would definitely discuss this with your lawyer and I'm sure you could either schedule it after or get a continuance.

I spoke with my Atty today...he said NOT to cancel he thought everything would be fine... ... Now if I have money to travel there on after paying him...LOL.....Thanks for all the Pixie Dust...its truly appreciated
