Hi all:

We are planning a trip for late next August and were thinking a fair amount of pool time would be in the equation.

Our home resort is BLT and we are going to book there at 11 months but may look to try out other resorts at the 7 month mark. Specifically we were thinking of BC or AKL. Having never stayed at any of these 3 yet we were wondering if folks would be kind enough to share their experiences on the shade level at resort pools. We don't want to bake in the sun while the kids are in the pool.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

we have stayed at AKV twice now and you can usually find a shady spot because there are a lot of tall trees. If you dont mind not sitting right by the pool side. :goodvibes

i was at BLT in august and there is not a lot of shade at the pool, found it difficult to find shady spots. but overall loved BLT. :lovestruc

BWV has several shady spots around the pool. We sat in an area completely covered with shade from trees this summer, and it was fabulous. My boys love the Keister Coaster slide as well. They say it is the fastest slide they have been on.

AKV Jambo pool probably is the one with the most places to find shade as the area around the pool is heavy with trees and large bushes. Moreover the hot tubs are in shady areas. Kidani pool is more difficult as most everything is in the sun. BWV you can, as noted above find some areas

There are some shady spots at Stormalong Bay(BCV) depending on time of day. That pool complex can't be beat!

We have stayed at both Kidani & BCV.

We never had trouble getting a table with an umbrella at Kidani (that's the only shade we found). During our last trip to BCV this past July, we could never get a shady area. Yes, we baked in the sun but it was worth it..we love SAB!

I actually found the pool at Jambo to have quite a bit of shade. As others have posted, there is quite a lot of tall foliage. The hot tubs are completely shaded and very private. We love the pool at Jambo!

Depending on the time of day, I have seen shady areas at both the main pools of SSR and OKW.

Whenever I've been at Stormalong Bay at the BCV, there's been plenty of shade over by the sandy bottom area, and not too many people there. I guess most people like sun around the pool, but I don't. At AKV-Jambo, there are plenty of shaded chaises, but they're set back kind of far from the pool, which isn't too good for those of us who enjoy people-watching.

The pool at Villas of Wilderness Lodge (DVC section) is shaded and generally less busy than many of the other resort pools.:cool1::banana:
