Has anyone ever stayed at SoG? I will be staying at SoG next week in the 2 bedroom suite. Does anyone have any info on the suite? Like how many people can sleep in the 2 br suite? Also, how did you use transportation? Did you walk to poly and use their transportation, or did you use the SoG transportation to the TTC? Thanks so much for the help, any additional info would be greatly apreciated!::MinnieMo

I have stayed at SOG many times and once since the nevocations. This is from SOG website regarding the suites:

"Shades of Green also offers 11 Family Suite combinations. 5 Family Suites sleep up to six guests and 6 Family Suites sleep up to eight guests. All Family Suites offer either a garden or golf course view and include two TV’s, internet connection, coffeemaker, mini-refrigerator, in-room safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board."

I use Bus A to get to the TTC. I have never walked over to Poly to use the monorail, but I have heard it easy and during the day they have a little golf cart type that will drive you to the edge of SOG.

There are several posts regarding SOG if you do a search. Or if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

Here are two pictures of the suite before renovations. I don't know if they are different now.

We stayed at Sog prior to the renovations. I think it's a great hotel for the money. There's such a difference in the size of the rooms compared to the regular wdw hotels. I've never stayed in the suites though. While we there, we took the bus and it was fine. We also walked to the Polynesian to take the monorail. It was a short ten minute walk, but I'd rather wait for the bus at sog.

Although we have not stayed in the suite, we just returned from our trip and stayed in the new section. It was wonderful. We used the hotel buses to get MGM and AK. If we were going to Epcot or MK, we either walked to the Poly and took the monorail or took the SOG bus to the ticket center. There are certain hours where you can catch the golf cart shuttle over to Poly, but you have to catch it on the main level, not the bus level. Not sure what hours it runs, since we only caught it once. We also went to TL and DQ, but drove the car instead of buses. Turned out to be the right decision, it was easy to get to and we could leave when we wanted without waiting around.

We stayed there in Nov '98 with our two sons (12 and 14 then) and my husband and I just booked for 6 nights next Nov ('05) at SOG again (kids in college). We loved it the last time. It's a very peaceful location and is close enough to everything so transportation is easy. We walked to the TTC or Polynesian almost every day to catch a ride. We also took SOG buses a few times and they worked really well then and I assume they still do. You can't beat the price for the size of the room on property. There are several other threads on SOG with questions answered by people who just returned so some were in the renovated rooms and some were in the new rooms. No one seemed to have any real issues. Search for SOG or Shades of Green and you'll get these threads.

There are suites that sleep 6 and suites that sleep 8. We just returned and we used a variety of transportation options. The SOG busses are wonderful and really run well on their schedules. Bus A goes to the TTC from which you can then hop the monorail to MK or Epcot. Bus B is actually 2 different busses, one of which goes to AK and MGM and one of which goes to Typhoon Lagoon/Downtown Disney.

To get to Downtown Disney we much preferred Disney's busses as they drop you off at a more convenient spot. We also walked to the Poly or took the Shady Shuttle to the Poly and then got busses or monorail from there.

We almost always used the SOG transportation unless it wasn't running when we needed to get somewhere.

I just wanted to say to all who stay at SOG, Thanks on behalf of a grateful nation. You or your family members decision to serve is truly appreciated.

supamaki~ thanks for saying that, your kind words are very much appreciated! :)
