We stayed at SoG in June, but didn't stay in the suite, as it wasn't available. (You are referring to the one suite that they have, right? Not just the regular rooms?) If so, here is a link
link to info on it, although it seems to be rather outdated.
We stayed in the new rooms. I think a lot will depend on your mode of transportation - if you plan to drive to the parks, I would definitely request the new section, as it is much closer to the parking deck. If your biggest priority is access to the pool, try the older section. The bus access is below the lobby, so you're pretty much even, give or take a few steps.
The last I'd heard, the new rooms are, well, new, but the old rooms were not renovated (I believe they ran out of money, or so the rumor goes. Gotta get those MWR funds going, eh? LOL). I know that the Dragon Hill in Korea was recently undergoing some construction as well, as was the Hale Koa, I believe, and of course, the Edelweiss was just built, so I'm sure the funds are pretty spread out at this point.
We didn't rent the Sprites at Poly, but we did go to the hotel several times to eat, shop, use the Monorail station, etc. and nothing was ever said to us. As far as I know, you're good to go, but you might want to call the Poly, or the World directly (407.WDW.INFO), as I wasn't particularly impressed with the WDW knowledge of the SoG staff. To be honest, we called the WDW.INFO line several times from within the hotel while we were staying there and got much faster and more accurate info than we could from Guest Services at SoG.
For the price, though, it really can't be beat.
