Has anyone stayed at Shades of Green? Or just know anything about it? We're going for about a week next year with extended family to celebrate an anniversary. My uncle is retired from the military, and you have to have someone like that either serving or a veteran (I think) to reserve, and I'm so excited to go because that's a really cool thing. However, I've never stayed in a non Disney resort. It is on property, but it's like the Swan & Dolphin. Not Disney. So, does anyone know anything? Thanks!

Funny you mention this, because we were just looking at that resort today! My grandpa is an honorably discharged veteran, so there are only limited times (very limited-this year it was only january and september) we could stay during the year; on that note, I'm sorry I cannot be of much help to you as I've never stayed there because of this. I did find out that they have their own buses to and from the parks, and it is a deluxe resort so it should be pretty nice. It's about a fifteen walk from the poly-you could walk there and catch the monorail! That's always a plus. Anyway, hopefully someone on here knows more than I and what an honor to have a family member that served for our country! Have fun on your trip!

Oh! Also, you do get take advantage of the extra magic hours as well. It's not technically Disney, no, but you still get those perks!

Thank you! I'm glad you still get the perks!! That's so neat that your grandpa is also a veteran! That's why I'm excited to stay there...all of the people serving and veterans will be so cool to thank them and meet them! Let me know if you guys decide to stay there ever :goodvibes

We're leaving for WDW/Shades of Green in 21 days! This will be our third stay with them and we love it! One time we went while the SOG was closed for renovations and we got the Military Rate at the Contemporary. While it's not a WDW Resort there are so many things to like about it. We love that the SOG has their own bus that takes you to the transportation station to get on the monorail.

You cannot please everyone and I'm sure there are some that would rather stay at a resort hotel but for us, this is perfect!

Thanks, I love hearing that! Makes me even more excited!

I know this thread is kinda old now but I've been wondering: Do you still get to watch Must Do Disney with Stacey on Shades of Green TVs? I looked it up but can't find the answer...but I mean it's possible- since the resort is on Disney property, wouldn't they be using the same server?

Last year when I went it was still on. . . I will cry if she isn't this august.

She was on this June! but I was just wondering because Shades of green isn't Disney owned but it is on Disney property and has Disney touches!

We have stayed at Shades of Green 13 times and we have our 14th trip planned.
If you want a good clean room with good transportation this is a good place. We enjoy the buses to TTC and the parks. The first time we stayed there, I was disappointed because I did not get the Disney feeling like you do staying at a Disney resort. I said we would not stay there again, but as you can see, we have fallen in love with SOG. If you want the Disney feeling, you will not get it there. Good room rates and ticket prices, makes up for the lack of Disney feeling. Food is not that exciting. We usually buy breakfast stuff in the store and keep milk in the frig for breakfast. We usually eat all other meals in the park. Great location. We have walked to Polynesian for breakfast.

It is nice to stay at a place with people who all have something in common.
