I am in the Delayed Entry Program for The Navy and will be going to boot camp in December and when I get done I was interested in taking the the family to stay at shades of grren when i get my leave and I wondered how it was and what were the prices!pirate:

We have stayed at SOG once and plan on staying there again next summer. You can find lots of info and prices at the SOG website, www.shadesofgreen.org. The prices are based upon your rank. Just for example, my DH is a Capt and we pay $110/night. There is no additional tax.
We enjoyed staying there. The rooms are really large. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge during the same trip and the rooms at SOG were MUCH bigger. SOG is within an easy walking distance to the Polynesian Resort where you can use the monorail. The bus system worked fine for us too.
There is sometimes debate over the lack of Disney themeing at SOG, but it was not an issue for us or the kids. It is a beautiful resort.
We did not eat at any of the restaurants at SOG. We enjoy the Disney restaurants too much.

SOG is great. ***Personally, I have never understood when people say it "lacks the Disney feel". Sure it doesn't have soap stamped with a Mickey on it but it has one of the largest hidden mickeys at WDW - the pool is shaped like Mickey's head (thanks to SOG having been the Disney Inn in a previous life.) When I am on Disney property I feel like I am on Disney property regardless of who actually runs the hotel - to me it is a state of mind. :cloud9: And saving hundreds of dollars doesn't hurt either. ;) ***

And don't forget the discounted tickets at SOG - even if you don't stay there.

Good luck at boot camp!!

First of all...great big thanks for beginning your military service!!!:thumbsup2

SOG is wonderful. Check out their website and all the info you need will be there.

Went to a bootcamp grad. last January and it was really cool. Best O' Luck to you!
