Hi everyone! As you can see from my low # of posts, I just joined the Dis! I found this board and it is definitely a godsend :thumbsup2

My family and I took our first family trip in May and we stayed at Shades of Green. Being a "newbie", I neglected to take any pictures of the hotel :guilty: :sad2:

Does anyone have any photos they can share with me so I can add it to my hotel scrapbook page?

Thanks for any help :goodvibes

I have never taken many but will be back on October 13-15 if there is something specific you want me to take I can try and get it then.

cinderella@ck: thanks for the warm welcome :)

piratesmate: I should have thought of that

rlovew: I would love pics of: the entrance sign of SoG, the lobby, and of the standard rooms (are you actually staying at the hotel?)

Thanks to you all :goodvibes

We'll be staying at SOG in Dec and I tend to take lots of pictures of everything, even the resorts, so I'll have some then.

Did you like SOG? This is our first time staying there, but have heard it's great.

Yes we stay there about 3 or 4 times a year and at other hotel 3 or 4 other times. We like shades of green best but if we decide on a last minute trip we take what is available and for trips at more crowded times like our Thanksgiving trip we prefer to have Disney transportation, so if our travel agent can get us a good deal we book a moderate. We only live a couple of hours away so many times we just go up for 1 or 2 nigths which is what we are doing in October with friends.

We love Shades of Green. It always seems a little quieter than the other Disney hotels, the queen size beds are great, and the rooms are so much bigger than anything else we have had on property(we have been in all the All Stars, the Pop, Port Orleans Riverside, Carriebean Beach, and Wilderness Lodge in the last 2 years).

I have found the transportation is always on a schedule and stops for no one overall- if we have just missed a bus we make the 1/2 mile trech down to the Poly, but the main thing is know the schedule and give yourselves a few extra minutes to get to the bus stop.

The buffet has the best prices on Disney as far as I am concerned for the food. The breakfast buffet is our normal food court breakfast cost but we can choose whatever we want off a much larger selection.

The grounds are beautiful (it is surrounded by 2 championship golf courses). OUr service has been great. One night we got back to the hotel and the tv wasn't working right. Within 10 minutes a maintenance man came in and checked it, he said he would have to make a new cable. We left for DTD and when we got back it had been fixed. That was on a Saturday night.

They don't have much in the way of character touches but the new ice cream stand is supposed to be great, we missed getting some by a few minutes and the sundries available in the exchange are a fraction of the Disney price even if they are higher than outside Disney.

We also loved the hotel. It had plenty of room for our family of 5. The only thing that we had some problems with was that the buses didn't start running until 1/2 hr. before the emh started. We were nervous about not being at the parks for opening, but even that wasn't a big deal.

We would definitely stay there again so I will give it :thumbsup2 because there isn't a smiley with two thumbs up :rotfl:

Thanks to all on the replies on SOG :goodvibes . We can't wait to stay there and have heard transportation is hit or miss. Unless we are going to MK (will take monorail...love it), we will probably drive, since we are renting a minivan (we are traveling with MIL and FIL).
Our last long trip in 2002, SOG was closed so we stayed at Contemporary and were disappointed in the rooms, so not too concerned about theming, just happy to be back with the Mouse.

We are very excited for our trip and looking forward to SOG. I will hopefully have some good pics from the resort to post.

MK and ECPot both leave by the buses to the TTC so they are easy. We do tend to drive to MGM and AK unless we are at the bus at the right time.
