shades of green wedding

Has anyone seen a wedding at shades of green? I'm thinking of a disney wedding and know that shades of green would be cheaper. Thanks!

I've never heard of Anyone having a wedding at Shades of Green, and I really don't think that is a possibility. However, if you still want to get married on Disney property, but want to keep the cost down, Try looking into the Swan and Dolphin Resort. you can get married there on the Cresent Terrace, and I think there is another location there too, but I'm not sure what it is called. This is a great option for those brides who want to invite more guests than what Disney allows for an intimate ceremony, but doesn't want to up their budget all that much.

You'll want to check out justmarry.com I've heard of several Swan Dolphin brides who've said they were very happy with their wedding there. Good luck!

You can contact Shades of Green directly, and they have information regarding weddings. I think that you still have to go through Disney, but they offer some sort of discount. I hope this helps!

Shades of Green is a military resort, so if you wanted a wedding there you would not have to contact Disney at all! I looked at having a Disney wedding but wanted too many guests for the intimate and was not willing to comply to all of the requirements for the custom wedding. I did not realize Shades of Green offered weddings until recently when someone asked why I did not consider doing so. If you go to the resort website you can see pictures of the gazebo for the outside wedding and they also have a backup in case of rain. You can reserve portions of the ballroom if your party is not large enough to require the whole thing to keep down cost for the reception. The food choices are amazing, you can have space for a dancefloor and all the other perks of a custom wedding for a fraction of the cost. Since we do want fun pictures taken in the park we are going to go the next day wearing our Disney ears!

I had a SOG wedding! Yes, is is MUCH less expensive. How the DOD resorts work is they charge 3% over cost. The only thing is you must have a military active or retired or Department of Defense sponsor. If you know about SOG, I am guessing you probably have an in. Doing an SOG wedding is not a Disney Fairytale Wedding. It is like dealing with a hotel or something like that. Our wedding was beautiful, the food was unbelievable, the service was wonderful. We even had Mickey and Minnie thanks to my parents' surprising us. Please message me if you have any questions.

Hey everyone well i know this is a late post but if you do happen to be searching for SOG wedding, definitly look into it. I had one in Aug and it turned out awesome i wouldnt change it for anything, Rich at sales and marketing was amazing and we planned everything over email and a few phone calls. I am not sure if ya'll are stationed in Florida or not. We live in Georgia, so while it is not too far away, I am not sure how easy it will be to plan from a state away. Were there any obstacles you faced? How easy or difficult was it?

I actully planned my whole wedding from Turkey. Im not gonna lie there were some stressful times with trying to pick out flowers over the internet and not meeting with the DJ but it all turned out perfect. I actually did over 95 percent of planning by email and i didnt call some people until right before the wedding. Rich who worked with us was great. The whole staff did an awesome job. I landed up getting my flowers from an internet site, I saw flowers i loved on here and then I went online and sent the pictures and they matched them perfectly. I wanted pictures at the poly, so we landed up taking sunrise pictures (in full wedding attire) at 630 am at the poly. No one said anything but positive. I hear the only way they dont let you is if there is a wedding at the time. I think how you ordered your flowers is genius! They are beautiful too. I cannot believe you did all the planning from Turkey, that is amazing! Rich gave me a list of services, but the photographers listed did not have websites. I really love your pictures, so I might look into them! How did you find your dj? That is my next big hurdle and it is making me nervous! Thanks so much for everything, you have no idea how much I appreciate it!

The DJ was a tough for me too and I didnt wanna spend a whole lot on it so i looked all over the internet and found Crystal Lake Productions DJ Entertainment which was $125 an hour, I wasnt sure how long it would last so I asked if we needed her and extra hour would she stay she said no problem and checked in with me a little before the time was coming to an end and we asked her to stay and paid her at the end, it was awesome she was great. I have her package information if you want to PM me your email address, im not sure how big you can PM people. I landed up using Randy Chapman because he was one of the best and his prices were awesome. He was so amazing and fun. He also has been so helpful since then becuase i needed pics asap because dh dad passed on and we wanted some for the memorial he emailed me some within minutes. One thing just as a suggestion, you may want to book the suite for the day before and the wedding, my parents had one and it landed up to be such a help and a good place to get ready and get hair done and all that jazz let me know if you need anything

Hi. Past SOG Brides, maybe you can help me. DBF would prefer to have a wedding at SOG to save $$$. He did contact them for some info, but it is not a DFTW and I want to have my pics done at the MK Photo Shoot. Not possible with SOG wedding, right? Just thought I'd try and ask you guys. Also, we'd have too many guests to sponsor so they'd have to stay at other resorts, right? Thanks!

I do have my heart set on Disney, but the money is a big deal. We are going in just 19 days, so I said maybe we can talk to someone at SOG face to face. Just to see....

Hello I just had my wedding at SOG so im very biased but here are some answers for you. I was able to sponser more rooms then normal with group bookings but you may want to check with them, because it may matter on the time of year, next no you can not have the magic kingdom shot which i was disappointed with but I was able to go to the poly and take pictures in front of the castle. Im so excited that we are talking about SOG weddings, i love hearing about dis weddings but its awesome to get to help fellow SOG people . I talked to Rich at SOG and he said that they are not as strict on sponsoring when it comes to weddings. I know around holidays that changes because they are tighter than for everyone. We were upset about the lack of MK pictures too but are determined to be satisfied with our disney ears in the park the next day! For us the pros outweigh the cons

One thing for the both of you......we had more magic in the parks then prob most brides and grooms can say. we only wore the ears 1 or 2 days but we had tee shirts my brother made and buttons. We got to open the park, be the grand marshalls, be the veterans of the day all unexpected. im not saying to expect it but im trying to let you know that you wont miss out on the disney magic. we also got special treatment at all of our meals in disney. The workers at SOG make you feel like a king and princess. One thing in case you havent been there lately there is a professional photographer at certain times to get your picture with mickey. Its a little expensive but makes a great photo.

Thanks for your help. It is an option. We'll have to talk about it and look at it all while we are there. We're going to look at SOG gazebo, Sea Breeze Point, YC Gazebo, and epcot locations. Also, we could always have a honeymoon shoot in the park which is only like $300 (even though I know it's not the same). So like I said, we'll (I'll) consider it. I've also figured a lot of pricing for DFTW, so I could compare it to SOG pricing and get a good idea!

I promise once you find out all the prices for SOG you will be amazed! I was astonished and of course no taxes on the rooms!
