I know that SOG isn't a Disney resort, but I'm figuring that someone on here has been there! We very well may be staying at SOG (it's between SOG and one of the All Star Resorts), and I have a couple of questions. First of all, as a guest of Shades of Green, are you able to enter the parks during the Magic Hour like Disney Resort Guests? Secondly, are you able to ride the Disney Resort buses, and if not, do the SOG buses take you all over the Disney Resort Area?

Thanks for your time!

*** yes, you are :)

***yes, they do :)
the SoG buses run on a schedule. Unless things change when it reopens next month, there are two buses. One bus goes to the Ticket and Transportation Center, where you can catch a boat or monorail to the Magic Kingdom, or the monorail to Epcot. This is also how you get to Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon. The other bus goes to MGM, the Animal Kingdom, and Blizzard Beach.

I'm sure mor information about the SoG buses will be available after people start staying at the resort in March.

The SoG buses are nice. Unlike the WDW transportation, LOL.

Thanks for your time!

By all means, stay at SOG!! It's basically a Disney Deluxe resort for the price of an All Stars! (It was, in fact, a Disney Deluxe before they sold it to the Army!!) Have stayed there many times, and can't wait to go again in May!!

Thank you all so much for answering my questions and assuring me that this would be a good place to stay. At first I wasn't too excited about staying there (even though I knew it would be really nice) because I was afraid that it wouldn't be Disney enough.. in the manner of transportation and the little extras.. We don't plan to spend too much time in the hotel room, but it will be nice to be able to have a lot of room (the rooms are much bigger at SOG) when we are there. We're even looking into getting one of the suites with a kitchen! Wish us luck!

HollyJoy,

as far as SoG being "Disney" enough, that's really only something you can decide for yourself. We love it there (tired to get rooms in March, the resort is sold out :( )! The pool is shaped like Mickey's head, you can hear the Main St. train from the property....even without the soap and food court, I think you'll enjoy it! The people are friendly, the rooms are large, and it's a nice place to come back to after a busy day in the parks. If you walk to the polynesian, make sure to look for the resident alligator!

The transportation system takes a little bit of planning, but that's the case at any WDW resort.

Good luck!

Your questions have been answered, but I just have to second everyone else that SOG IS wonderful! It was where we stayed on our first vacation. I think DH would prefer to stay there on our next trip too, but I've always wanted to stay at a monorail resort and am determined to do so this time. :) (Though I must admit, SOG is darn close to being one.) I certainly felt the Disney magic there and we had a great time. I would definitely pick it over an All-Star resort. Have a great trip and let us know about the new and improved SOG!
