We are leaving for Disney and staying at SOG early Feb. I made our ressies last spring. We have 3 rooms reserved, as we have a group of 14 of our family going. When I made the ressies I was asked if we wanted 3 connecting rooms. I said I had never heard of a hotel that had 3 connecting rooms, but yes I know everyone would like that. She told me it is only a request and not guaranteed, which I understand.

Anyway I had to call and add on an extra night for everyone (WoHoo!). I asked about the request for 3 connecting rooms. I was told they only had two rooms that would connect, but the reservationist said he really was not sure about 3 connecting. He said that the request is listed on our ressie.

I then called the front desk of SOG and the attendant said, "I don't think we have 3 connecting rooms, but you would would be adjacent to each other." She said she was really not sure though.

What I am wondering is if anyone knows if there is 3 connecting rooms at SOG. I had questioned this because the middle room would have to have a door on each interior wall. It would be fun to have all connecting rooms, but is not a real big deal. Anyone ever heard of this?

I don't think it's a possibility in the new section of the hotel due to how the rooms and connecting doors are laid out. Also, there is no guarantee that you'll even get adjacent rooms, it is the luck of the draw when you check in based on what type of checkouts they had that day. When you check in, if the rooms they give you are not adjacent, ask them to please see if there are any rooms together. They told us that their computer just randomly assigns rooms unless they go in and do it manually which most of the time they don't unless asked to. Don't know how true that is but it seemed to hold true for us and they were able to find us connecting rooms even though the rooms the computer assigned us were not.

I am curious, do you think it will make a difference that all the rooms are in the same name? All the rooms are under my hubbys name, so I was hoping just because of that we would possibly at least be near each other.....

Makes no difference. They'll do their best to get you all as close to each other as they can, but no guarantees. :)

I will be really curious to find out how your three rooms together goes - we are going in April to SOG and also have requested that our three rooms be together - additionally I would like the room close to the lobby and the pool - don't want much do I????lol - we plan on walking to the Poly to use the monorail also - would appreciate any thought on that.....

We walked to the Poly from SoG and it was an easy walk, maybe 10 minutes, 15 at best.

We stayed at SoG last summer and had 3 rooms. Two of the rooms connected but all 3 were right next to each other.

Enjoy your stay!!

I am glad to know some have had luck getting rooms together. We are going to be there 9 nights, so even if the rooms are not together the first night, maybe we could move closer next day........

We have walked to the Poly many times on past trips and caught the monorail. It is a relaxing, beautiful walk. DH and I went on a short no kids trip in Sept. We were staying at VWL, but went to SOG to eat. They had a golf cart "The Shady Shuttle" running people from the hotel to the crosswalk to the Poly. We rode it one way. I thought it was a cute idea!

Do they run the Shady Shuttle everyday?

Yes, they run the Shady Shuttle every day. When we were there this summer, I think he said it runs from 7am until around dark every day.

We had 5 rooms at SOG this summer and had requested to be as near to each other as possible. I was very nice every time I asked and said "I realize that with 5 rooms it might not be possible, but we woule appreciate being as close together as we can". Each time I had to call them about something, I would double check to see if it had our request on our reservations. We did end up as close as we could get. We were at the end of a hallway at a "T". 3 rooms were right in a row and the other two were on the corner of the "T" right across the hall.

I'm sure they will try to get you close if they can!

How many people can fit on the Shady Shuttle? - we have 10 in our group for the first 4 days and then 6 the last 5 days

I seem to remmeber enough room to put a couple on the back end, one next to the driver and then I think there was one or two other seats in between the driver and back end. Each seat fit two comfortably.

One can fit next to the driver then there are two other seats. Each can fit 2 people easily - maybe three if there are kids. So I would say definitely 5, maybe 6 or so. I think 10 would be too many.

Yes, the old Shades of Green had a series of rooms that connected. There was one suite with two connecting rooms in the old part(One bedroom and a den area with two beds out of the wall and a fold out couch). The den area connected to another seperate room with two queen size beds but no fold out single bed. In turn, this room connected to another seperate room which was a standard room(Two beds and a fold out single bed). Total connecting rooms were four but two were in the suite. I know because we stayed in it a couple of years ago.(We had @ 16 or 17 with us on that particular trip)
