Shades of Green question

We are staying at the Contemporary resort and were told that there is a Shades of Green store located in the North Garden Wing. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Any recommendations for room locations? We have a DS, 10 and a DD, 8. Are people taking advantage of the Armed Forces Salute deals being offered?

I haven't been to the Shades of Green store at the Contemporary, but the store at the Shades of Green when we went about 3 years ago was like a typical hotel gift shop - snacks and drinks, books and magazines, souvenier type items, toiletries - but all tax free!

We were there in April of 2002. It is a very smallish store compared to the one they had at SOG. It is really just hotel-room size, or a little larger. They sell a few t-shirts, snacks and trinkets. If there was no Armed Forces salute, or if you need other tickets for area attractions at a discount, you can get them there.

We really didn't request a particular room when we went. We were on the second floor and we did have a long walk down the hallway and then a long walk to the monorail with two little ones. I would think first floor would be more convenient. There are only a couple very tiny elevators to the second floor. You would not want to be near the door leading from the tower into the NGW, though. One elevator is right inside this door and I can't imagine the noise those people put up with day and night what with people coming and going there.

Ten minute walk to the MK gates. It was great!!

Last Sept we were on the 2nd floor waterview first room opposite from the elevator and it was perfect! I thought it might be noisy, but it turned out to be an excellent location. We were able to see the Light Parade on the water each night from our room and there was absolutely no walk down LONG hallways--Ü
We have requested the same room for our trip this Sept---of course we know that aren't any guarantees--but we can hope can't we!!
