Ok so I hope that this title does not confuse people. I am going to be staying at shades of green next week (I know everything should be done and ready for a triple check by now). We will be staying with my father-in-law's id and there will be quite a few of us 10 adults and 1 child. My question is how many park tickets will my FIL be able to purchase. He and my MIL are the only one's with a military ID. I know that the regular tickets are pretty similar in price but the stars and stripes tickets just seem so much easier. Obviously time is of the essence so I thank you in advance for any help.

We've stayed at SoG several times and quite frankly I've never seen a limit on ticket purchases, but as long as you're all staying there you shouldn't have a problem. You can call them and check just to make sure.

yep and he can purchase ahead of time at his duty station if he's still active or lives near one.

I don't think Stars and Stripes can be bought ahead of time.

There shouldn't be a limit, and to make it easier on everyone, if the sponser (the id holder) is there (which he'll have to be) everyone can puechase their own tickets- you don't have to have him do it for you. we do this all the time with my family- just show then our ID's and whoever is with us, can pay for their own tickets, so they don't have to worry about getting the money to us at all. Hope that helps, and have a great time!

he can purchase all 11 tickets with no problem. might be easier if everybody paid him ahead of time so that he can put the whole transaction on the credit card , since no one else is authorized to purchase tickets.

Eeyore: are you sure that non ID holders can buy tickets? I was under the impression that you couldn't sponsor that type of transaction.

I can't speak for tickets, but I know several years ago a sponsored person (non-ID holder) could pay for their own room on their credit card.

yes I know it's okay to sponsor a room( we are planning on doing that for the Ex wife in January when DSS graduates Boot Camp in Chicago,) and have the Non ID holder pay for it. I just didn't think purchasing goods was allowed, just like Commissary and exchanges.

Only place we have ever shown id was the check in and to buy tickets. And only my husband has shown his. I dont have to. I think you can buy for anyone in your party. we once bought for our non military kids (All adults) when we went. The only one who shoed ID is my husband. I have never once been asked to show ID in the store. we have stayed there two times a total of 13 days between those trips so we shopped there lots!! Even my non miltary kids bought things with out ID.

Anyone may pay for the tickets as long as the sponser is there and shows ID. We did this for some friends who are Florida residents. They got the seasonal annual and they paid for the tickets.

okay that's good to know for future reference.. and yes, we have had to show ID at the AAFES.

Last summer the only time we had to show an ID in the AAFES was when we bought cig or alcohol.

I was a guest at SOG last year. My step father is retired military and we went with my mom. The only time military id was shown was at check in and when purchasing tickets. My daughter and I used the gift shop almost daily(bought alcohol and cigs too) The only thing asked for was a room key..to verify that we were staying at the resort.

Yes we have always paid for our own with BIL showing his ID.

I don't know if they are called Stars and Stripes, but you can purchase tickets at the MWR office at a local military installation, if the military installation has a travel agency, you should also be able to buy them there.

I didn't think they were calling them Stars and Stripes anymore anyway :confused3

Stars and Stripes tickets (currently still being called that) can only be purchased at SOG if you are staying at SOG or one of the Disney resorts.
It is the all inclusive "Length of Stay" pass. Most shorter stay hopper passes can be purchased at MWR offices.

When we were then last yr - I am the ID holder, I purchased my tickets, and my mom and brother purchased tickets for their families seperately from my transaction. (I was there with them - but they used their credit cards for their own tickets).

be sure and compare what you are planning on doing as well.. the S&S tickets cover EVERYTHING.. all the parks, all the water parks and all of the stuff that costs extra at DTD(well the clubs and stuff, not the food or the shopping).

it may not make much sense to get the S&S package if you won't be hitting the clubs at night or using the waterparks.

Check the Ticket and Tours office at your local base... or find one near by... I recently called the Niagara Falls NY air station (we live by Syracuse)... their prices for annual passess were cheaper than the SOG prices for annual passess. I was able to email them a copy of my ID and they charge it to my credit card. I now have my exchange certificates. Since this trip (this weekend) we won't be at the SOG it would have meant an extra stop for us... this works out so much better.... they mailed them to me... the whole process only took about a week.....

you mean the 174th doesn't have an ITT office?! for shame! I grew up in Sillycuse and my father retired from the 174th.

I'll wave in two weeks as we head to MEPS to swear in the Stepson.
