Shades of Green Overflow

The phone number for SOG is 888-593-2242. Dont be surprised if you have a long wait before you get through. I had 1/2 hour wait this morning and another time It took me almost 2 hours on hold before I got a real person. I think your mother would be eligible if she has a military ID card. Was your father retired from the military?

Thank you for the info. I will have to ask my mother about the military card. He didn't retire from the military. I now when he pasted away the military gave us a foot stone at the cemetary and an American Flag. I will have to call them and find out.
Thanks again. Is this a toll free number.

In the hopes of saving you and your mother time, she's not eligible. Fulfilling the obligations of your contract with the US Gov't gets you nothing....at least not at SoG...unles you have retired from service. :(

Just got off the phone with SOG and there are no rooms available for May 7-13 at CR. I asked about other resorts but all the deluxe resorts start at 200 a night and I cant afford that. He told me to call back in April and maybe there would be a cancellation. I also thought about getting 2 rooms at a value resort and he quoted me 79 a night. That doesnt seem like a big discount. With the latest codes at mousesavers I think that is what the rooms are priced at. Has anyone stayed at BW LBV? Did you like it? I have heard good and bad reviews. I shouldnt be so bummed I dont plan on spending alot of time in the hotel anyway. I dont think BW LBV has a hot tub either. OH well.

That's strange....May is an off season time frame. I know we could get the WL for as cheap as $129-149 in the off season. Now, the other deluxe resorts (not including CR), you were looking at starting from $169-189 and going up from there and yes, that was a decent discounted rate. Rack rates for those times were usually about $220. All of this was before tax, of course.

The value resort rate sounds like rack OR that preferred view DW invented. They have 3 ASRs....I'm surprised all 3 came up at $79 for such an off peak time frame. Maybe the cheerleaders are invading again? <G>

Disney room rates were updated each AM. So, you may want to contine trying back. What's not available one day may be available the next and at a discounted rate. For that time of the year, you should be able to get the ASRs for about $59 and the moderates for $89.

Keep in mind, with visitation not having recovered from 9/11 and the threat of war looming, Disney is probably hurting for money and may not be giving many discounts to SoG. As the time draws closer to May, they may start giving SoG more discounts to sell those rooms instead of leaving them empty for the evening. :)

SOG also has a website:
The website explains the eligibility also. If he died in service, she MAY be eligible (no guarentees). Also, prices are determined by military rank. I hope it works out for your mom. As far as we go, I have no idea if my husband will be able to make the trip, but if he deploys between now and then, I am taking the DDs by myself! Yikes!

When you are booked via overflow at another resort do you still need to bring your military id? or is it just taken at face value when you check in?

Depends on the resort. You must have your military ID card with your for ALL DW resorts and the Hilton LBV. Disney spot checks IDs (All IDs are, supposedly, checked at the CR). We were told if Disney asks for an ID and a valid one is not produced, they will allow you to stay in the hotel for rack rate. If you decide you don't want to do that, you'll lose your one night's deposit. The other hotels, unless things have changed and for the most part, do NOT request a military ID card check. :)

Has anyone ever received an SOG overflow rate for Wilderness Cabins?

Yes, people have received overflow rates for the FW Cabins. I know they have because I had offered and booked them.

I called in January (for end of May trip) and got an overflow rate at AKL for $140 per night.

We usually stay at POR or POFQ and decided to spend the extra money this time for a deluxe.

I was quoted different rates for different hotels in the deluxe category.

I called last month and got an overflow rate for the first week of May for $89/night at POFQ. We decided to go with POFQ, since the Wilderness Lodge quote SOG gave me was more than the current codes.
