Shaded spots on Castaway Cay?

My biggest worry about our Disney cruise is Castaway Cay. I get heat illness really easily. The one good thing probably is that we're going at the end of January. Regardless I'm a bit worried. Is their shaded areas to pull lounges and chairs to? This is our first cruise on Disney so I highly doubt we'll be able to book a cabana. It almost has me wanting to book a different line that has clamshells or easier access to book cabanas but our kids are so little (will be 3 and 4 at the time) that I know Disney on board is a better way to go.

Please tell me there's plenty of shaded spots near the water.

Good question! I'm going to watch this thread. I'm very fair-skinned and don't deal with direct sun well. I'm hoping there is plenty of shade, or I might just make a quick visit and then go back to the ship. I hear that it is the best time to ride the AquaDuck, anyway, because most people are on shore instead of in line. :thumbsup2

as I remember, there is no shade right by the water..there were chairs up under the trees..

There are lots of shaded areas. They tend to be a bit further up from the shoreline, which may be an issue if you have little ones who want to be at the water's edge all the time. The shade is from trees or umbrellas. If you get off the ship fairly early on Castaway Cay day, you shouldn't have a problem setting up camp at some loungers/chairs/hammock in the shade (lots of people will be wanting the same thing). The dining areas are open but under a roof, so plenty of opportunities to stay out of the sun! Just keep the movement of the sun over the course of the day in mind when you choose your spot...it's usually pretty easy to just shift your loungers a bit to stay shaded!

Here is a pic of the CC Family beach area. You can see there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas for all who want them. You may have move down the beach to get one if you are slow off the ship but you will have no trouble getting one. Have a Magical cruise.

There are plenty of umbrellas. Have never had a problem having shade at CC.

I guess it depends on your opinion of "near the water". They can't put shade along the water's edge because it would block the view of the life guards. However there is shade on the beach from both palm trees and umbrellas. If you get off the ship early you'll be able to pick the spot that's best for your family. I don't think it should be too much of a problem.

Here are a couple more pictures of the seating, trees and umbrellas on the island. These were taken near the family beach snorkeling lagoon.

Thanks for all the photos. I'm still worried though, haha. But we'll have 4 adults and 2 kids so I'm sure we can make it work.
