Does anyone sew their own dresses/blouses?
Make their children's clothes?
Etc? :confused3

Looking for ideas, everyday or holiday.

on the family board there is a sewing thread called disboutique or something like that. Lots of pitcure and such

The DisBoutique thread is great, but can be intimidating. It moves FAST and some of those ladies have AMAZING talent.

I'm not nearly in that league, but I make a lot of things for my girls, simple cotton tops and capris or pants mostly. I have a TON of very cute, old fashioned floral fabrics my grandmother and great aunt gave me when they quit sewing, and with that I basically make "free" clothes for my 2yo. I also make matching tops/outfits for trips and holidays, because the age/size difference between my girls is too much to just buy off-the-rack clothes in the same style.

My favorite top pattern, super easy with quite a few options for straps/top. My older daughter has a few; my younger daughter has a summer wardrobe full. I made this one for both of them for our last trip:

The same top attached to a scalloped skirt for a Christmas dress. I did this one for both girls too:

This one is a twirl skirt I made for my toddler using the same twirl skirt pattern I used for a poodle skirt for my older daughter's Scout sock hop:

And this is where I get all my patterns, thanks to the ladies on the DisBoutique thread for pointing me in the right direction: http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/authors/1039292498 I have a very hard time with commercial tissue patterns, but have loved every one I've printed from Carla C's collection.

Very cute, coming from a pro. I made my living doing clothes and I am very impresessed.

I made most of D's dresses when she was in elementary school. I love the Childern's Corner patterns--I found them in the Sew Beautiful magazine. Some yorks were plain, some smocked, some embroidered.
I also made t-shirt dresses--really just t-shirts from Target, prewashed, cut about 2 or 3 inches from the underarm seam (pinking shears from my grandmother). I attached a skirt from whatever inexpensive novelty fabric she picked. (rectangle, gathered at the top about twice the width of the t-shirt). I made myself a couple that I still wear--mine are slightly A line skirts. Cute, comfortable and inexpensive.

I love sewing outfits for my daughters.. it's kind of my stress relief. Haven't tried to sew anything for myself yet, although think I might start doing my nursing scrubs soon, just so I can have "different" prints than the norm.

I've found that Simplicity patterns fit them the best.. the others (butterick, etc) seem way too wide, and I end up cutting a couple inches from each side usually.

Also love the Euro patterns.. they have some cute outfits and you can change them up easily to make them more unique.

Here's just a few pics I already had on a site online (sorry if they're huge)..

This one was for my nephew for his birthday...

Hmm, those aren't working anymore.. let me just post the link and see if that works.. http://mrudman1.tripod.com/12345/id20.html

I make almost all of my own pants and skirts so that they will fit. I have a very difficult time finding pants that fit in any store and much prefer to start from scratch than to alter ready made. I use a few favorite "classic" patters over and over. I pretty much only use Butterick and Vogue patters because they are the styles I like. I make a lot of my work shirts but hate sewing in knit so I buy my a lot of my casual clothes from discount stores and then monogram or embroider on them!
I used to make most of my girls clothes, but now that they have gotten older they like to shop for clothes in their favorite stores. Since they have to wear uniforms to school every day and don't need that much other clothes, I generally let them get pretty much what they want for fun clothes.
