I got back to DBF's house just as it started to come down and I thought that was bad but a few minutes later it came down even heavier and then the hail started. Yikes! And then... I went into his basement and found a nice flood and since no one was home... Ugh!
Traffic was CRAZY...I had to pick up my sister who works 20 minutes fromme, it took me an hour to get there....and she even started to walk to meet me. It was NUTS!!! Boy am I glad I am home....most of the traffic lights were out, and things got really backed up. Not to mention at work the power went out so I had 6 screaming kids....saying "it was nice knowing you, you were a good teacher we are ALL gonna DIE . They were scared!
Coming home from cottage today and we hit Toronto around the middle of everything. Black outside and pouring rain. Got home to a flooded garage and basement. Would you believe we just got cleaned up from one like three weeks ago. Of course the insurance would not cover anything.Nothing was valuable but all of my hard cleaning up could of been worth something.
I live in Fergus and as I am sure you have all seen there was some pretty severe damage done here.
We were lucky as we had planned on going to Wonderland on Friday but decided to change our plans when we heard the storms during the night and saw the weather forecast. We spent the day in Cambridge doing back to school shopping in Cambridge. We got back to Fergus around 5:30 pm and noticed a few traffic lights were out but didn't realize what had happened. When I got home I had a couple of messages from family and friends making sure we were okay. Our power was on but had been off at some point. Some tree branches were down around the house but nothing to big.
Today we went to Orangeville and drove through some heavily damaged areas North and East of town.
We got to the Rennaisance Faire at the Royal Botannical Gardens this morning and our tents were fine - but some other vendors had their roofs blown off! No huge damage, just inconvieniences...
I also live in Fergus and am so thankful everyone is O.K. We live at the south end of the town and the tornado touched down at the north end of Fergus (although if you know Fergus it's a small town). We drove by yesterday to see the damage. Oh my!! There are barns down, roofs off houses, hydeo lines down, trees snapped off everywhere. There's not much outside of the path of the tornado. It's so sad to see the damage the tornado has caused. But like I said - so glad everyone is O.K.
Allison - you should take a drive Hwy. #6 north, as well as out of town on Garafraxa street, and up 1st line. It's horrible.
