Several dining questions

This fall, we will have the free 'plus dining' which we have never had before. So here are my questions.

1. If I make an ADR and then can't get there and cancel, is there a window that if you miss canceling by, they debit meals from your card anyway? Okay, that was awkwardly worded, but I cant think how else to explain it right now.

2. We will be doing the MNSSHP, which starts at 4pm. The only ADR I can get that day is for 4:10pm (or much, much, later, which I don't want). Will they let us in slightly early to get to the restaurant on time if I tell them of our ADR? We don't want to use a park pass, just our mnsshp bracelet. Or is there a bit of a grace period if you're a bit late getting to the restaurant? Should I skip the ADR all together and just eat at a cs that night?

3. What's the difference between making an ADR and making an ADR with your dining plan? I saw those options when making adr's online and I'm just wondering if they will honor the ddp with a regular ADR? Just asking because I made my adr's before I knew I had free ddp.

1. If your reservation required a credit card hold, yes you will be charged if you don't show up. The vast majority of restaurants do not require a CC hold,
however try to cancel beforehand so someone else can get the reservation/table.

2. MNSSHP starts at 7pm, not 4. However, you can enter MK as early as 4 with
just your party ticket. You should be fine getting to your ADR if you enter MK right at 4. Some partygoers, myself included, eat our TS meal for lunch or dinner and then a CS in the hours btwn 4 and 7. That way you can maximize your party time.

3. There is no difference in making ADRs with the dining plan vs. Without. The reason it is there is if the meal requires prepayment (CRT for example), people on the dining plan aren't charged, their CC is just used as a hold. In theory, anyway - sometimes people are charged anyway.

I just reread your question. If you cancel a regular reservation, dining credits will not deducted from your total. I'm not sure about the credits if the meal was a CC hold.

Sorry, I didn't know if you were talking about being charged money or credits for a cancellation.

If it's one of the restaurants that require a credit card hold, your credit card would be charged if you didn't show up, but they don't mess with your dining credits. You'd still have all of them.

The only dining options that require a credit card guarantee are CRT, Akershus, California Grill, the Fantasmic pkgs, and the three dinner shows (HDDR, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, and the Luau). I think that's all. There are no penalties for not showing up at any other. It's just polite to call and cancel.

They will not let you in slightly earlier than they let in the rest of the party goers around 4 pm. You will either need to get there so you're at the head of the line of people wanting to enter or keep trying for a slightly later time. Last year, there was quite a line of folks waiting to get in at 4 pm, so I would guess that those at the end of the line didn't get in for a bit.

1. Dining credits are never deducted from your account automatically. They are only deducted when a CM swipes your card at the restaurant. If you have booked a reservation for which you needed to leave a credit card guarantee, and you don't show up, they will charge your credit card whatever the restaurant's no-show fee is. They will not deduct your dining credits; you will still have those in your account.

2. Even if you are a bit late to that reservation they will still let you in. Enter the park at 4 and you will be fine. I do not believe they will let you in earlier than that if your admittance is via a party ticket.

3. No difference whatsoever. Unless it's a prepaid reservation (CRT or a dinner show), at the time you make a dining reservation it makes no difference whether or not you are on a dining plan, or if the dining plan was "free" or paid for.
