Sunday 5th
As per the usual first day excitement/time difference problem, I am awake at 2.30. Dozed a little til Jack wakes at 3.15, then eventually we all get up at 5.00. Paulet and I shower and are ready very quickly, however Jack is still laying in bed glued to his iPad. He hasn't moved since 3.15!!! Does he not know we are in Disney! Does he not realise we are going to the Magic Kingdom
Get up Lazy Boy!!!!!
There is a message waiting on our phone from reception to ask us to confirm if we still want our room change today and that there will be a $30 charge for this!!!! ( I think not
) We call bell services at 7.00 and they turn up to collect our suitcases at 7.15.
We have an 8.20 reservation at Crystal Palace this morning so we set off at 7.30 just to be on the safe side. The drive to MK is very quick (6mins from leaving SSR to parking in the TTC.) We are parked close enough to the front as to not require a tram. We hop on to the resort monorail as the Express is not running until 8.30. Can't believe how lucky we are with the transport this morning, everything is Disney efficient. We bypass the mere mortals who are waiting for rope drop and gain our early entry into the park.
Oh the joys of an empty Main Street, its just beautiful. Paulet is already starting to get teary eyed ( a Disney tradition
) We decide to use the opportunity to grab some pictures with our phones, including obligatory selfies and then remember that we have Memory Maker so we grab the nearest Disney photographer
We then stroll over to the Crystal Palace and check in.
Its very pretty. we are called in practically straight away bang on our reservation time. For some reason in our last four visits we have not really noticed this place let alone been inside. Inside is just stunning, lovely Victorian charm and wonderfully bright and airy. Our server is from Australia but his mixture of American/Aussie accent was a little difficult to grasp. We order tea and juice and then make a beeline for the buffet.
Paulet's first plate contains many delights, but above all is the mushroom and cheese omelette which is ordered and then cooked in front of you. Me and Jack go for the standard American breakfast fare
Paulet then tried the breakfast lasagne (not a big hit! It contains layers of waffles, pancakes, pound cake, fruit and custard) along with Mickey waffle, pancakes and french toast.
Then before we know it, its character time

We were a little worried, being three adults, but we didn't need to borrow somone else's kids as we have Paulet
Jack and I get in on the act too
Fully fed we heave ourselves outside and with military precision tackle our first set of rides.
We walk on to Pirates - same old ride, a must do, but it is showing its age and is not a patch on the Disneyland Paris version. then over to Thunder Mountain with a very quick 10 minute posted wait, more like a walk on again though. Love this ride we just can't get enough of it. Next is the Haunted Mansion another fav, especially for me, we walked on here too. We noticed quite a few subtle changes since 2007 all of which have improved an already legendary ride. As the weather has warmed up quite a bit now we head to Splash mountain with just a 10 minute wait. Jack and I love it but Paulet is not the greatest fan of log flumes (so she says, but I do catch her grinning and laughing like a 10 year old
)
Feeling the need for a change of pace to finally let brekkie go down we head over to Mickeys Philharmagic, again we walk straight in. Great show !. Paulet insists we do the Voyage of the Little Mermaid but even she finds it a little disappointing even with the short 10 minute queue. We bypass the Mine Train as even at this early hour the queue is well above 60 mins - we have a FP for this next week. Into Stitch's great escape (no wait). We all still much prefer the old Alien version but appreciate that it may have been a little too intense for the little Disney peeps. A new experience for us is the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor which is ok. A bit of a giggle but not a show to do over again.
Space Mountain is up next and is our first use of a FP+ using our Magic Bands (If I haven't said before, they are fantastic, amazing, brilliant things!)
Paulet and Jack loved this but it kinda scrambled my nogging a bit! Is it just me or have they made the ride a lot darker again? Last time I rode it I'm sure I could see the track and didn't feel so disorientated.
In need of a sit down I drag the others on to the Tomorrowland People Mover for a rest
Fully recovered we race to Buzz Lightyear to blast Zurg
Another FP+ see us on in a couple of minutes.
By now it was getting for 3 o'clock and still feeling a little stuffed from Pooh's brekkie delights we decide to use a snack credit on some ice cream from the Main St. Ice Cream Parlour. We get 3 huge waffle bowl sundaes
A snack credit each - Definitely a must have - just heavenly
