What became of Dixie Landings? My parents and I went to Disney back in '94 and stayed there. First time on site and my reason for booking PORFQ (I'm starting to get these!) for me and DH. Since I was just a teen when we went last I can't place where it was, but from what my parents say I think it's near Fort Wilderness, if it isn't what became Fort Wilderness.

So, if anyone knows, tell me what happened, cause I'm sure clueless myself! :confused3

Dixie Landings and Port Orleans merged to make Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter....aside from the names there are no other real changes.

As for Fort Wilderness its still there as well.

Dixie Landings and Port Orleans were officially merged into one resort operating with two distinct areas: Port Orleans Riverside (Dixie Landings) and Port Orleans French Quarter (Port Orleans).

Hope this helps.

DL (now POR-POFQ) not near FW but is in the DTD area.

Thanks! So essentially I'm staying at the same location as I did the last time I went? :rotfl:

Where did you book again? If you booked Port Orleans Riverside, then yes, you are staying in the same location, formally Dixie Landings. The French Quarter was originally known as Port Orleans, close to it but NOT Dixie Landings. Now they are merged as one.

I believe there was a restaurant at one of the resorts that closed when the two resorts were merged. Perhaps the one at Port Orleans?

Yes, Bonfamille's restaurant at POFQ (formerly Port Orleans) was closed. Boatrights restaurant at POR (formerly Dixie Landings) is the only table service restaurant for the two resorts, but each resort does have its own food court and bar/lounge.

Actually POR is very close to FW, go out the resort exit, turn right, go to the traffic light and turn left, FW is less than a mile down the road.

From your original post, you booked at POFQ? or POR?

POR=Port Orleans Riverside (Formerly Dixie Landings)

POFQ=Port Orleans French Quarter (Formerly Port Orleans)

Either way, they are practically connected. You can walk from one to the other very easily and they "share" amenities.

You are correct, yet it takes over an hour to back from HDDR in the evening. OKW is "just around the river bend" to quote Pocahontas at DTD.
