Setting up tour - a few questions

We considering doing a tour of DVC on our arrival day, but I have a few questions:

1) How much time does it take?
2) What will the kids do? They are 15, 12, 9, 4. Will I be able to promise them something fun during that time or will it be boring for them?
3) I've heard of people getting FPs to use after the tour. Do they always give these? It would really help if I can promise the kids will get to ride in MK afterwards.
4) Do I call the guide who sent the big Dream book to set this up and can it be set up before we leave home?

1) I would allow at least 1 1/2 hours, 2 hours is probably better. Maybe a little longer if you plan to purchase during the tour to cover the paperwork. Since you already have the book and are a little familiar with DVC, tell your guide you want to quick tour.

2) There is a supervised activity area for the kids while you are on the tour. The two older ones, depending upon how you feel about it, may enjoy going to a park instead and you can meet up with them later.

3) They don't always give the FPs. It never hurts to ask your guide.

4) Yes, call lthey guide that you received the book from to pre-arrange a tour time.

Like Chuck said it can take up to 2 hours but probably a little bit less than that. We did the tour in April and a van came and picked us up early in the morning at WL. I think it was like 7:15am. We had the first appointment of the day, I believe. They drove us to the preview center and SSR and signed us in quickly, offered juice, coffee, maybe some pastries too. The kids got signed in to the supervised play area with Playstaion games and other stuff too. My DS 11 and DD7 both enjoyed their stay there and of course they both had to have the ice cream at the end of the tour. At the very end our guide gave us each card for 3 FP rides and the van drove us right up to the MK entrance. It was fun and it went by fast. We did it on our last day there so we were able to get home and crunch the numbers before making our final decision to buy.

Good luck!
