I guess this may seem strange but I want to thank you all who have family in the military. I honestly have no idea how you deal with this day to day. You have so much courage.

I saw the Al-jawhateverIcan'tspell footage today and I just started crying and I've had God Bless The USA on repeat for a while now. I don't know anyone in the military but for some reason it's killing me to watch this coverage and know that there was good, innocent men out there fighting for what we take for granted every single day. Again, this must be heartbreaking for you and I don't know how to put it other then I just wish I could give all of you a big hug and somehow help.

I guess it's because I've never lived through a war before and it's just blowing my mind that people do this everyday. Serve a country they have so much faith in.

I didn't really have a whole long spiel to say other then Thank you so much and God bless all of you. You're in my prayers.

I agree. I don't know how our military families do it either.

Your courage, strength and faith are to be admired. Our prayers are with each and every one of you.

Very well said, Jen. I don't know how the military families or even the members of the military do it. They are devoted to their country and I am so very, very grateful.

Thank you for your gratitude...

I was a military wife for years and now my son, son in law and nephew are serving. It is a hard life, but these men and women love their country and are happy to lay their life on the line to keep our country the free wonderful place it is now.

Our nation needs to thanks these brave people and their predecessor the way you did here everyday of their lives for our free country....The cemeteries are full of wonderful men who gave all for us, let us never forget them.

I know how lucky we are that these Brave Men and Women have taken on the moumental task of protecting us and our Freedom. It's something we could never Thank them enough for doing!! I hope God gives the families the strength they need to get through this difficult time. God Bless the Troops and God Bless America!!

Well said! I was just telling my Mom this morning I don't think I could ever handle being married to one of these brave men. He would stay in trouble with me calling his commanding officers to see how he was!

Carol,
That is so funny!

Thanks for all your kind words. Luckily since Dh has been in the service since 1982, this is the only one like THIS for him.

He has been to Kuwait 5 times, once right after 9/11 where he did load weapons that were sent to Afghanistan. He did not get called to the first Gulf War.

We do what we do because we love our spouses. When we marry them we accept the fact that in many instances their job comes first, not always by choice, but it is a fact that their service to our country takes first place. It is nice to be appreciated because there are so many folks who do not realize all the sacrifices military families make all the time so that they can protect the american public and the reason for our sacrifices is love, plain and simple.

Very nicely said, IheartMickey. I think many of us are feeling incredible admiration these days for military families. Ever since 9-11 I have become more aware of the front line of people that take risks for their neighbors and country. Think of how we look at fireman and police different now, at least I know I do. Today there are 200,000 men and women working and risking their very lives for us. And behind each and every hero is a family who watches and waits, worries and hopes. I, too, am so very grateful. I pray every day and long into the night for all of you.

IheartMickey, you said it so perfectly. Whenever I think about what these people are giving up to keep us free and safe, it just blows my mind. Really humbles me, too, because I don't think I could do what they're doing, either fighting or staying home while DH was deployed. God bless them, give them strength, and please bring the military home safe!!

I'm so happy everyone is replying. These family's really do deserve the appreciation. We sometimes forget like someone else said that there's a family for every military member.

Something occured to me the other day,
I am the mother, wife, daughter, step-daughter and sister of someone who served in the armed forces during war and/or confict. My men haved served during WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Haidi, and now this one. I believe we all have had someone somewhere in our families that have served and protected this country of ours.
So in one way or another, we are all in this together, weather it be today, yesturday or tommorrow. United we stand, we are the american family.
I think the people who support our troops, with care packages, letters or flying the flag also deserve our thanks also.

there's a family for every military member

I think theres also a military member for every family, too. And there are so many people 'adopting' our guys, that makes you family too.

My late uncle was in the military and my grandfather was in the Air Force. I originally wanted to go into the air force. I was dead set on it, I was building up the requirements (30 sit ups, 14 push ups) but then I found out that my disability wouldn't be going away anytime soon and you need to be able to flee the plane, etc.

My grandmother said that my uncle (it was her brother) was different when he came home, it took him time to get back to his old self. I'm praying that doesn't happen to our fighting soldiers right now.

As a military wife (20yrs +), thank you for your gratitude.

As an American, I add my THANK YOU to all serving (past & present & future) here & there.

My DH is still home -- since he works fulltime at MA National Guard State Headquarters...we claims his unit is undeployable. I still worry daily. Because 1/2 of his "undeployable" friends are deployed --- some volunteered. His best friend is currently deployed -- but stateside (Ft Bragg, NC)...but they sent some of that unit to Kuwait....and probably will be sending more.

With each round of "call-ups" I continue to hold my breath for those left at home.

Hugs & prayers to ALL!!!!

As a military mother, I thank you for all thats been said. This is a very trying time for us. It is nice to know that our sons, husbands, brothers, and fathers are apprieciated.

Thanks for all your kind words. We have had custody of my brother and sister in laws kids ages 8,6 and almost 2 since the end of December. They were stationed at Langley in VA but are now in Saudi in Tabouk. My brother is able to finally email us but we didn't know where he was for about 3 weeks, we were at WDW at the start of the war and I overheard someone telling of the granade attack and I freaked out! I called home and Mom told me that we had gotten word that they were not in Kuwait and that they were ok. HE witnessed 2 patriot missles being deployed last Sunday and said that he is about 95 miles from Baghdad. It's all very scary and luckily we can email each other and just check in to see how he is doing. He's sent requests for toiletries, phone cards, stamps and envelopes/paper. He also asked for Dawn dishwashing liquid to clean the parts!
As for how we do it....well we just do it. It's not a job I wanted and not one I asked for but we had no choice but to take the kids in. Don't get me wrong...I love my brother and his kids and would and have done everything in my power for them but having 3 extra mouths to feed and 3 extra to clothe and then there homework, sports, my 2 jobs.....well it's very hard. My mother helps out when she can and she kept the kids when we went to WDW. I had the plans made a year in advance and with money being tight I couldn't take the other kids with me. I am trying to plan a trip for July with all the kids though. They are my family, my brother and his wife and they are serving our country and if all I do is keep the kids loved and safe till they get home well it's the least I can do. I pray every day that this war is over quickly and that they return safely home to us.
