Seriously vintage WDW

Hi Everyone! This is my first time posting in the camping forum, but I read alot on here. We are staying in the cabins in 3 weeks for the first time. Anyways I just wanted to say thanks for posting the brochure it's cool to see old Disney stuff. It also made me remember that I have one of these. Mine is from 1983 and if I can ever figure out how to post pictures I will put them up. I got mine from my grandma, and I asked her what the scribble was about on the back because other than that it is in perfect condition. Well according to her the day they were there they saw Richard Nixon getting off of It's a Small World and they asked for his signature and that was all they had for him to sign. So I asked her were the picture was and she tells me that you didn't carry around cameras like you do today. I just laughed at her because right above the signature is an ad to borrow a Polaroid camera for free! Only my grandma wouldn't get a picture of a former president at Disney signing her park brochure!

Thank you everyone for how informative you all are on this board and we look forward to loving the fort!

I remember those tickets well. They were a hassle and we never used them all. My first trip to Disney was in 1977.
Our youngest daughter was almost 5 and when we came home and school started she was in Kindergarten. She came home telling us she got the be the "monorail" that day. It took us a while to figure out she meant she was
the room monitor. Her brother and sisters never let her forget that. We stayed in the Contemporary Tower and also stayed there the next year.

I loved River Country and Discovery Island. Still have some pictures of me holding some of the beautiful birds.

Disney World has changed so much since those early days but it is still the happiest, most magical place on earth.

The mile long bar wasn't a bar as in serving drinks. It's got it's name because of mirrors at each end of the counter making it look like a "mile long". Pepsi was the original sponser of the Country Bears, and the bar is where peco's serving area is now. Peco's used to be a lot smaller with only outdoor seating. Above the bar, there were Max, Melvin, and Buff carrying on from the show.

Sometime in the late early 80's is when coke got it's contract with Disney to be it's sole provider of drinks. Up until that time Coke and Pepsi products were served on site.

Thanks! I don't have any recollection of the Mile Long Bar, so I was very confused about what it could have been!

Although the tickets were a hassle, it's a little sad that kids today have no idea what an "E Ticket Ride" means.

Thanks for taking the time to scan this in OP. Fun trip down memory lane.
