Has anyone stayed in a suite at the SL??
Any idea on price and facilities??
I am going around in circles over where to stay this April :confused3

Thanks in advance.

Giving this a bump in its own thread as more will see your question :)

I think a suite in Sequoia Lodge is just one room. Last year when I phoned to book a suite, the man on the phone said that a suite at Sequoia Lodge would not be suitable for my needs - we wanted 2 rooms & there were 4 of us. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that is the case. Maybe someone else will know more about it. We ended up in a suite at Newport Bay instead & it was fantastic.

The suites in the SL are not comparable to the suites of the other hotels. I have heard that they are only slightly bigger rooms on the top floor with minibar. They don't even offer room service or anything similar. If you want to stay in a real suite you have to start with NBPC or the other 3 more expensive hotels.

Morning guys and thanks for your replies...

So, if a SL suite is not fantastic (and still just one room) perhaps we could consider a Newport Bay suite? Could you tell me a bit more about them?? cost?? facilities? room and bed layout?? and what your opinions are??

Funny thing is when I first enquired with Iglu holidays they said that the cheapest suite is in the New York hotel and was around £3,000 :confused3

Many thanks in advance,

Ali x :goodvibes

Hi Ali,
I wrote a report of the suite I stayed in Newport Bay. It is at

It cost us 450 euro a night. You have room service & can order breakfast to your room for 10 euro. You can otherwise have breakfast in the Captains Quarters which is not with all the other hotel guests & was very civilised. You also get free towel hire in the swimming pool - which was a great pool. If you have any other questions, just ask & I'll be happy to answer them.

Hi Karen and thanks so much for your reply :goodvibes

The photos look great but can I just confirm that you had one bedroom with the huge bed in and then a sofabed in the lounge. We have 2 little ones aged 2 and 4. Our 2 year old is still in a cotbed at home but it's hit and miss whether she would fit in a standard cot...... I'm just trying to figure out what our sleeping arrangements could be.......

I had kind of made my mind up to stay at Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France where we can get a beautiful 2 bed townhouse for around 666 euros for 4 nights but we would need to hire a car on top of that as well as park passes......

I guess I am just wanting to try a disney property but am used to having all the space of a villa on our usual holidays :confused3

Me confused :rotfl: I'm just going around in circles :lmao: :confused3

Thanks again,

Ali x

PS just noticed your 'ticker info' - have you booked Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France for May this year?????

From reading comments above, does this mean that normal rooms do not have room service or am I confusing room service with mousekeeping? Surely rooms have mousekeeping?

When I phoned about the suite in the Sequoia Lodge Disney told me there was only the honeymoon suite there. And it was very expensive. I think the Newport Bay was a better deal. I plumped for a montana room and it was great!

In June 2006 we got a free upgrade to a suite at the Sequoia Lodge... :rolleyes1

God, how on earth did you manage that one ???

When i went i managed to get myself downgraded from a Montana room to a room in a lodge.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Room service is where you can have food/meals delivered to your room.

Mousekeeping is when they come to clean your room all the rooms have this.

That is a lovely room, looks like you had a great view too, but does anyone else think the positioning of the washbasin is odd ?

There is probably a perfectly good reason for it being outside the bathroom, is it just SL that does this.
In the NPB our basin was definately in the bathroom and I'm sure it was at Cheyenne and SF too. :confused3

I don't think that is a wash basin - I believe it's a small sink for the drinks bar? The bathroom is round the corner, behind that bit. At least, that was what the suite we were upgraded to back in '95 was like!

Hi Ali,

Yes, we had 1 bedroom with an enormous bed & the sofabed (which was very comfortable) in the livingroom. We had a travelcot in the bedroom (supplied by the hotel) for our baby who was only 7 mths at the time. The travelcot was the same as our one at home - a Graco which our other daughter used until she was 3. The bed is very big - 3 pillows across the top and I spent most nights in it with our 2 children!

As you have noticed, this year we are going to Marriott. We are not going to hire a car. From reading this forum there is a free shuttle bus a few times during the day & a public bus close by, so we should be OK for getting around. I thought the houses at Marriott looked lovely & the other facilities on site too. It is about a third of the price we paid for the suite last year. I had wanted to stay there last year, but there was no availability for when we were going. The suite was great & so close to Disney. If you want to stay on site, I would recommend it.

As well as the shuttle bus service, Marriott do have a minibus which you can arrange to be taken to/from the parks in. I think they charge 15 euros a journey for this.

You're right. It's a sink for the drinks bar. The minibar is just under it, and the bathroom is right behind, round the corner.
