Sequoia Lodge or Hotel Cheyenne - where would you stay?

Until we can afford to stay at the DLH :lmao: I need some help on deciding between the Cheyenne and the Sequoia Lodge. The theming at the Cheyenne looks fun and the pool at the Sequoia looks gorgeous. For 5 nights it is around £260 more expensive to stay at Sequoia (package inc. tickets & half board).

What would you do? Is the extra worth it?

Has anyone stayed at both who can advise?

What are the differences between the breakfast and evening buffets ? Which one is best?

Any other differences?

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

I haven't stayed in both, but I can vouch for the Sequoia being a gorgeous hotel with a lovely atmosphere! :thumbsup2

I have stayed at both, and i prefer cheyenne. Although they are both great!. I prefer cheyenne becuase of the theming, and i like the whole 'wild west thing', but it is a bit of a walk to the parks.

However sequoia is also great, it has a warm feeling, and is closer to the parks. It is also at a slightly higher level to cheyenne, e.g. more amenities and a pool.

I can't really remember the breakfast buffet at Sequoia as i stayed there in 2000, but a cheyenne it seemed to be fine with everything u would get a sequoia.

I hope this has been a little bt of help?. I'm sure you'll have a great time wherever you stay. :goodvibes

I'm stayed at the Cheyenne twice and its great fun!! Were staying at the Sequoia in Nov so I can't comment yet!! I think you will have a lovely time wherever you stay - and if your half board you dont have to eat in your hotel by the way! I've not read any good reviews online about the buffet at the Cheyenne when I went it was self service food and not a buffet.

Cheyenne was the first Disney hotel I stayed in and absolutely loved it! was looking at stopping there when we go in January, it's properly good value for what you're getting and everything, if you've got children going too there's not really much contest, cowboy theme is pretty much a winner all round =]

For us it'll have to be SL. We've stayed in both and I agree that the theming in Cheyenne is cool. It's a little bit further than SL but still walking distance.

SL was the first hotel we stayed in. We've stayed there twice so far and going back in Dec again. We always stay in Montana Room (room in the main building). Love the theming, really lovely play area in the lobby of the hotel, the bar and the restaurants are nice.

I love SL so my vote goes to this one:)

I haven't stayed in Cheyenne, but have stayed in Santa Fe and much much prefer Sequoia Lodge. The extra walk to Cheyenne would put me off a bit. The pool at SL is lovely, and if you're staying in a Montana Room it is so much nicer to go down to breakfast because you're already in the main building. Same in the evening - if you eat in the Hotel or have a drink in the bar (and the Redwood Bar is lovely, BTW) you just go in the lift to your room without having to go back outisde again.

I don't know about breakfast in Cheyenne, but at SL you are shown to a table, and it is cleared for you afterwards. At Santa Fe it is more like a canteen - you get your breakfast first, then get a table and you are expected to self-clear.

we've stayed in both and like them both but S Lodge has the edge as its higher quality. As already mentioned you get shown to a table for breakfast then its self service whereas at cheyenne its more chaotic as you find your own table

Cheyenne for two reasons;
  • my kids are teens now and prefer bunk beds to sharing
  • we don't use the pool so why pay for it?
Both are very well themed and breakfast is much the same scrum :rotfl: . We enjoy the walk past the lake and it never seems very far from either Hotel.
We go back again for half term and we are staying at the Cheyenne. I don't think we will be eating there though as we want to try a few places we've not done yet and are hoping to get GMF breakfasts.
I don't think you can make a wrong choice between the two.:)

I'm staying in the Cheyenne tomorrow and I'm very excited, the theming looks fab and I know DD will think shes a little cowgirl/princess lol.
