Hi,

Lately i have heard a lot of negative reviews about this hotel and was hoping someone could balance this out with some positives. Eventually i want to stay in all the disney hotels and have booked this one for June. Recently i am feeling like i should swap. Convince me this is a good hotel.

I stayed there for three nights in 2002. Hotel was lovely and clean, nice large Montana room with a lovely view over the lake.

Breakfast was a nightmare, but this seems to be the case in every DLRP hotl that I have stayed in, either get there early or very late.

Only negative for me was the distance of some rooms to the main building (there are some Lodges basically opposite the Cheyenne Hotel and the bar was stupidly expensive.

I'd definatly stay there again, but only in a Montana Room.

Thanks Captain Jack.

We have booked a lakeside Montana room. The swimming pool with flume was a real selling point and after this trip i will only have the Cheyenne which i am leaving fror a trip where we do not have so much to spend and the New York.

Stayed at SL on the last 3 visits, which have been around the November/December time.

I've never had any reason to complain about the state of the room or hotel. Our rooms have always been Montana

I love Sequoia Lodge because, out of the rest of the onsite hotels (except possibly the Disneyland Hotel, of which I am definitely not an expert), it has the best lounge/bar area.

On the flip side, the bedrooms have the plainest decor. But I've stayed there several times now - again, always in a Montana room - and they have always been clean and comfortable.

Most of the hotels seem to go through a period a bad reviews - at the moment it seems to be SL's turn! Don't worry, there is every chance you will have a great stay there.

I haven't stayed there recently but have stayed there twice before and have been happy with the rooms (second time was in a Montana room and that was so much better as we were right in the main building itself). Think it also sometimes depends on your luck really.

We have stayed there four times now and it has always been one I have fond memories of as the lounge area and bar are situated just perfect to see what is going on. The shop is great. I just love their breakfasts and have never really found this a problem. Probably because we tend to have it around 9.30 - 10.00. This does sound very late doesn't it, but we take it leisurely now. Not like the first few times where you are in such a rush to see everything.

It is a shame there have been so many negative reviews. Although you know now that if there is a problem just go straight to reception and get it sorted straight away. The staff have always been happy to oblige. On our last visit, I requested a kettle and it was brought to my room. I needed more towels and they were delivered with lots more mickey mouse toileteries. Lovely.

Have fun

I love your thinking!! I'm staying there in a couple of weeks and was initially really pleased with my choice. Now I'm not too sure. The dangers of internet forums I suppose, wonderful for finding out information.... but sometimes info that you don't want!!!!

I'd sleep out on the street for my disney fix at the moment though... and my girls won't care either, that's all that matters.

We have stayed at SL several times-the last being November. Always in a Montana lakeside room. First two times had a wonderful view of Disney Village and the castle but last time we weren't so lucky with the views( corner of Newport Bay and a maintenance area!). However the rooms have always been fine. The beds are comfy and its really handy having the sink outside the bathroom. For the amount of time we spent in the room it was absolutely fine.
The bar area is lovely and the restaurants serve great food.
I would suggest a Montana Lakeside room. The 6th floor North Wing gave wonderful views.

As a wise-mod of this board once told me - people are far more likely to post a comment or review about a bad experience than a good one. I'm not suggesting that the bad things didn't happen, but that a great great many people probably had a great experience at the same time but didn't bother to post about it - it's human nature.

Count me in with those who have had a thoroughly lovely time at SL.
We stayed in October 2007, went back 2 months later in December, went back 2 months later in February 2008 and then 2 months later in April. We wouldn't have done that if there was a problem! :rotfl: I love the Redwood bar - easily the nicest bar of the 5 Disney hotels I've stayed in.

We always went for a 7 o'clock brekkie and never had any problems with queuing

We stayed there in January and didnt have any probs with the room or the hotel. We didn't have electricity in the room for a couple of days but it wasn't a huge deal. We did have major problems with customer service trying to get this sorted out, but you could get that anywhere.

The hotel is lovely, it has a really nice warm feel to it (maybe the minus 12 degrees we experienced), the bar is fantastic, the room (Lakeside Montana) was clean, good size etc, food in the restaurants was great, we loved the breakfasts and never had any probs getting a seat or with guests "scrumming". Overall it would have been really fab had it not been for our let down with the staff, so as long as you don't have to complain about anything you should be fine ;)

Absolutely loved the Sequoia Lodge! We had a Montana Room with a great view (see piccie). Breakfast was fine at 7:05..yes it's early but it was dead! The room was pretty standard (do you need anything other than a bed, shower and loo?) but perfectly adequate and ours met our needs perfectly.

A great location too, only a couple of minutes walk to Disney Village and about 10ish to the parks (less if you walk fast and don't gawp at everything along the way ;))

The bar area was lovely too, we had a hot chocolate on our last day whilst waiting to leave to get the Eurostar and sat by the fire, it was so cosy.

The staff were lovely too and helpful with any queries. I hope that's enough :)

We stayed at SL last summer and loved it.

Big room, very clean and tidy and quiet. Also breakfast was great (we always went at 7am) and quiet.

I love the public areas in the hotel and would gladly reccomend it to anyone! :)

we've stayed there three times (always in the main building) and really like it. the rooms are good size, nice and clean, customer service a little annoying but we didn't really mind that as we only used the room to have somewhere to sleep;)

the bar is nice, we really enjoy being in the lobby because of the play area - it's wonderful!!! ou can sit and have a drink in the bar while you watch your children play.

I'd say don't change the hotel, I believe you'll have a good time:)

Hello,

We have been twice, both not in montana room. We enjoyed our stay both times and had no problems with cleanliness or any problems. From what I remember we did not have any problems getting a table at breakfast either. We would go back again but my DH loves going to the SL around xmas time because of the roaring fire.

We stayed there July 08 and really liked it. The room was clean and comfortable and the pool was really good fun.
The bar is also our favourite out of all the hotels

I would definitely stay there again

Hi,

Thank you all for sharing your positives about the hotel. Hopefully like all of you i will be lucky and have a great stay.

:scared1: A couple of days with no electricity, my Daughter would have gone mad if she couldn't of used her straightners:rotfl2:

:lmao: My kids are only 7, 5 and 18 months so not a huge problem for me, thank god. I'll have all that to come though. Would've normally been a prob for me, but straightening my hair is waaaaaay down on my list of priorities at DLP and I usually just chuck it back and live with the frizz :scared1:
