We have never been in September. We have actually never been in the off season. We are picturing NO ONE there. It's fun to imagine that we can walk onto every ride, never wait for a bus, and eat wherever we want whenever we want! How far off are we? :rotfl:

What is the third week in September like? I think we need to come back down to reality

Well, it depends how literally you mean those things!

Compared to the other times of year you've been there, it may feel just like that! But there will be some other people around and the popular restaurants will still be booked at popular times.

Ad you will wait for a bus at the BC and if you leave the parks at closing time you'll probably have to wait for a bus once or twice.

Enjoy!

Bob

Yes, it won't be empty but you probably will have the benefit of never needing to use FastPass (they weren't even working last year) and the lines for the bus will be limited (the only time we really had to wait in a long line was after Illuminations). At AK, we got to ride Kali several times in a row because there were no people waiting. Last year we made ADRs in the morning for dinner and had no problems. This year I did call ahead because of the free dining. I figure, since it's free, more people will be going to Sit-Down meals.

Enjoy your trip!

I'm curious myself. We were there last year in September but it was in between hurricanes and the place was vacant and awesome for us. I'm not sure how much if it was the Sept. regular day or simply due to the hurricanes. I'll know in 11 more days!!!!!! :cool1:

My family will be taking a "once in a lifetime" trip the third week in Sept. also. My DH is a teacher and our schools are out that week. I have checked around and I think we are the only system out in the Southeast that week. Yahooooo! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce:

That also depends on Mother Nature and what's going on in the world. Last year my family and I went the 2nd week in Sep. An already "down time" was further kept "down" by all the hurricanes. Many people cancelled trips. I was not about to. I told my DH unless they call me and tell me that WDW has been leveled, I'm there. As it turned out, the World survived just fine. The ride to the World was devastating from all the damage, but I did my part to keep the economy alive and well in Orlando!! I also went to WDW a few weeks after Sept 11. Again, many people cancelled. Again, I did my part to keep the economy going in Orlando. Overall, I think you will have a great time! I have to say though, when I went during all those hurricanes, my kids stayed on a lot of rides and fast pass was not avail at all anywhere, it just wasn't needed. We did eat whereever, and whenever we wanted, PS not needed. I told my kids they were spoiled and not to expect this again. We are going again in Oct and hope it's all good.

I live about 45 minutes from Orlando and we go often, but our favorite time of year to go is September. The crowds have always been really light. It's the only time of year that we can let DD (2) run free out of the stroller without worrying about losing sight of her or her bring run over by big people or her not watching where she's going and running over others. If you don't mind getting wet (it's hot so I doubt you will) stay if storms pass through. It seems like everyone runs off when it looks like it's going to rain, but generally the rain lets up pretty fast. After a good downpour I have seen the park literally empty afterwards. Have fun, we'll be there too!

We have a few pictures of our daughter...one in Fantasyland, one one in World Showcase, one at the Boardwalk and there is not another person in the picture. They are not close-ups so you really can see how "empty" it was.

They are on my "old" kind of camera, so I don't have them online, I'll see about getting them scanned.

It's eerie in a way, but we LOVE it!

We'll be there Sept. 23-30, let's hope it's as awesome as I keep hearing. Well...Disney is always awesome, you know what I mean ;)

September is a great time to go...no fast pass needed. The longest time we have waited is 10-15 min. The only problem is hurricane season - we were in WDW for Jeanne last year, and the parks closed for a day BUT they gave a comp day to the tix. If you are in WDW for a hurricane, you are OK, the problem is getting there when there is a storm.

Our dates this year are the 18-23rd so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

There was only 1 time that we were able to go on rides with no lines and that was right after Sept 11. Actually we were the only ones on many of the rides. We were 2 of 12 people on the plane too. It was very eerie and we did not like it.

WooHoo! I love hearing this kinda stuff. We leave in less than 2 weeks!! YAY! I am so excited. I am hoping with this being our first trip that we can really do all we want without huge crowds everywhere.

JesusLover just wanted to let you know their is one school in FL that will be out the last 2 wks in Sept. My dd's school goes year round and we are about 45 minutes from the world. But, don't worry we go every year at this for "Girls Only Vacation" and, it is not as crowded as other times of the year.

This thread is getting me soo excited. The only time I have been was Spring Break.12 more days!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

You are going to love September! We always go in September because we just don't really enjoy crowds. Last year was amazing - we went just before Ivan hit and when we got there, we ate breakfast at Spoodles. We were the only people in the restaurant for a good 45 minutes! A few days later a CM at the info board in the MK gave wrote us this "pass" thing for any ride we wanted (as I recall he did this after we were mildly disappointed that a ride we wanted to go on was closed). The pass was designed to let you go to the head of any line (that day only), kind of like FP. Well, we ended up keeping it as a souvenir because we could not find any rides with lines to use it on! :rotfl: Enjoy!
