I got a quote from DU on the Secret Porthole rooms, first available in value season isn't until September 2004. Is September a good month to sail? Would I be better off waiting until 2005 for March?

September and October are my favorite months to sail. Mostly because the rates are usually the best during that time. Also, it is less crowded than during the summer, but still plenty warm, and the days are still pretty long. The later into the fall that you get, the shorter the days become.

The only caveat is that this is during the height of hurricane season, so there is a slight chance that the ship will be re-routed to avoid a storm. This really doesn't happy very often, maybe two or three times a year. It did happen on one of our cruises, but didn't take away from our enjoyment of the trip at all, and we never encountered rough seas.

We always sail in September. Our twin DDs have their birthday in that month. We were just 'lucky' to discover it was the cheapest month. I didn't even realize it when we booked our first cruise in 2000 (just wanted to go on their birthday). We have went in September for the last 3 years, and will again this year. Next year (2004) we are missing because there isn't a Disney Cruise that is out on the 19th. Don't know why. So instead, we are trying February and December in 2004 instead; but will return to our annual September cruise again in 2005. We have had wonderful experiences! Only had a little bad weather, but never missed a port and always got to enjoy CC.

DJ which itinerary did you guys do? Or if you've done both, which was your dds favorite?

Sept. is also our favorite time to go for many of the reasons mentioned above. We're trying our 1st 7 day this year. Our last cruise (4 day), the Cruise Dir. asked if we noticed the boat turning a lot (I hadn't noticed). The Captain was steering us into sunnier weather - I'm pretty sure it wasn't b/c of a hurricane. The 1st cruise, we flip flopped the order of Castaway Cay & Nassau b/c the store in Nassau weren't open the day we were supposed to be there. Again, not due to a hurricane.

We are booked for Sept.04 and can't wait!!!
We saved a BUNCH by NOT going in July like we normally do!

We have sailed the last 2 Septembers. It was great both times. Still nice and warm. Crowds aren't as bad.

We have done the 3 night, 4 night, and the 7 night Western. We are trying the 7 night Eastern next February. All of the ones we have already done have been in September. It is still quite hot in September, so keep that in mind. The kids clubs were full too, lots of kids missing school to go on the cruise. The ship is still just as busy and active, for about 1/2 the cost! I just hope that September doesn't become 'popular', I like getting to sail for so much less! Let's keep this 'our little secret' ;) .
