I was originally thinking of going to DL the last week of March of 2008, but now I'm thinking of going the last week of Sept. 2007. The only negative thing with that would be that I would have to take my kids out of school. Would I be crazy for taking my kids out of school just 2-3 weeks after school starts? I also wanted to make it a surprise, so how can I do that AND get their school work ahead of time. lol

My next dilema would be talking dh into it which I think I can do if I bring it up at the right time.

Thanks

We've gone the past 2 years around the 25th of September. It wasn't too crowded during the week, Friday night, Saturday, and Sundays did bring in some crowds. March would be busier. Just talk to the teachers ahead of time and hopefully they will work with you.

I went to DL the last week of Sept this year, and it was WONDERFUL. Jeff had a random day off on the 29th so I took him out the 28th or Thursday. We had the best time and I may make it an annual event. Thursday we did everything we wanted walked on most rides. You did not need FP for Space or Splash. Friday was a bit busier with that being the first day of Halloween stuff but we went to DCA then back in the evening for Fireworks and Fantasmic. I say GO!!!!

We also went this past September (21-29) and I also stressed out about how much school DS6 would be missing. I wanted to get in touch with his teacher as soon as possible, but there was a problem getting teacher assignments so we didn't know his teacher's name until a few days before school started.

Fortunately she was very nice about it. She was able to prepare some of his homework before we left, so we brought it with us; and the rest he got once we returned.

This was our first trip to DL (so I have no other basis for comparison as far as crowds) and we did well during the week, with of course bigger crowds on the weekend. The weather was also great, mid-70s to upper-80s. The only downside was that several attractions were down for the season or for refurb, and others were offered only on the weekend.

We missed quite a lot, so still have stuff to see for the first time on our NEXT trip, hopefully in fall 2007!

It really depends on how old your kids are. It should be fine for Elementary school and Middle school, but high school is a different story. Just talk to the teacher via telephone first, and then go pick it up. I suggest doing the homework before hand though because the kids wont have the energy to do the homework during disneyland. but that also ruins the surprise :/

just tell your dh that there will be a trip to somewhere... dont tell him where... just say something is gonna happen and its a big surpised :)

Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm so "wishy washy" when it comes to deciding on when to go to DL. Since I REALLY want to suprise the kids this time and I hate to take my high schooler (especially) out of school for a week, I think I've decided on the last week of Aug. 2007....... if dh will agree to it. We went at the end of Aug last year and it was crowded, but manageable. We never waited in line too long and used fastpasses alot. I know we will have a blast no matter when we go. It's just so hard to decide when would be best. I shouldn't think so much about it and just pick a time! lol

I know for sure that dh would agree to Aug of 2008, but I can't wait that long and will wait until a good time to ask him if we can go next summer.

Thanks again!
