September when to do? Labor day crowds? Which is best?

Ok so after reading a million post on September this year negative and positive I've decided we should just try next September and see how we like it. We want to use the pools and go when crowds are lower then other times. Now I am trying to figure out when to do. First I was thinking about going Friday the 9th through Sunday the 18th so 9 nights. We would probably try the halloween party, although after so many bad reviews from this year I am doubting we even should try it with our young kids. They will be 7 and 4 at the time. We will have 3 days will take breaks and not do parks. Now I am thinking maybe going Sunday the 4th and leaving Tuesday the 13th, still 9 nights but we would only be there over one full weekend which obviously Saturdays and Sundays will be more busy then weekdays. Also my kids would be out for that labor day, although she will still miss 6 school days no big deal. From past crowd calendars it does;t look like Labor day is to busy of a day and we could just pick the park that has the lowest crowd predictions and def not do MK that day. We guess wouldn't do the Halloween party if we did these dates as we wouldn't want to travel home the next day. So my question is Labor day really bad and which dates do you all think is better?

Friday 9th - Sunday 18th - Would possibly do MNSSHP, have 2 Saturdays & 1 Sunday there to plan
or
Sunday 4th - Tuesday 13th - No Halloween party, but only 1 Saturday to plan

I think either weeks have the potential to be crowded.
I would choose the second week, so that you can keep the Halloween party option open and maybe be around for the beginning of food and wine.

I do think, crowd-wise, the week of the 9th will be a little less crowded, but I sort of like the idea of only having one weekend in the mix. If you choose the Labor Day weekend, you could just stay away from all the parks on Labor Day. I know that doesn't give you a break between park days, but it might be the better choice. Would Sunday the 4th be a park day or is that just a travel day? I think that would probably be the busiest day of your entire stay as people try to get one more day in before school starts.

Sunday would def be just travel day. I wouldn't want to not do anything Monday to but being Labor Day I'm worried.

I've been on some Labor Days that are nuts, but some that aren't bad by mid-afternoon. It's a crapshoot. I wish I had better info for you, but in general, I think there are so many factors, such as: Labor Day - late or early; weather - good or lousy; foreign exchange rates - high or low... etc. etc. Perhaps a water park on Labor Day?

We are struggling with this, too. I want to go the later weeks, but my sister and brother in law that are going with us want the first week.

That's a great idea. We are planing a water park day--which I couldn't care less about doing--so this would work out great.

I was at WDW Thursday night-Wednesday, over Labor Day weekend, this year. The only time the crowds felt really heavy to me was Monday night at HS - it was THE LAST NIGHT of the Frozen fireworks, and the center area was pretty packed. But I went to Fantasmic following fireworks, walked in 15 minutes before show, and found a great seat on the far-center side.

Compared to January - it was busier. Compared to Easter week or Christmas/New Years (both of which I have done), it was extremely manageable.

It really is a struggle trying to decide haha. I just wish Disney wouldn't try and max parks out all year with offering so much. I get they want money but geez it's just gonna get worse every year :(
