I keep reading about how hot and rainy it is, making me a bit nervous. REALLY how bad is it... I went in mid May last year is it hotter or humid or more rainy than that. I thought May was darn hot, but not unbearable.

Thanks!

September is hotter and rainier than May. Humidity is still a lot - I don't think September feels much different than August.

We went Sept 2006 and yes it was ungodly hot and humid and there thunderstorms practically every afternoon but very little in way of crowds. We went last year Dec 18-25 the weather was lovely but the crowds were horrendous. I would much rather have the heat!!! It forced us to take afternoon breaks at the resort pool which was great and relaxing!!! We are going this year Sept 20-29. My DH says he'll go to WDW every year but only in Sept because the crowds in parks are light and extremely manageable.:goodvibes

Don't be nervous- the walking on rides makes up for the heat! Drink lots of water and use a misting fan!!!
Have a great magical trip!

I'm kinda worried about the rain too, but I got a great tinkerbell rain jacket and umbrella from disneyoutlet.com so I'm ready for it!

August and September are also the peak occurrence times for tropical storms and hurricanes, historically speaking.

September is usually more hot and humid than May.

We were there last September and it was very hot and humid. There was also the stray downpour that didn't last long, but would soak you if you weren't under cover!

i was there in late september of 2007 and early may of this year.... i do have to say that september was a LOT hotter than may! I would just walk out of the resort and i couldn't believe how hot it was!! buy some misty mates and drink lots of water!!

We went last year and it was warm and rainy. Neither bothered us though, as the crowds were so minimal.

Honestly, just enjoy the rain! It really cools you down on a hot day.

I agree !!

We were there last September as well - it was during free dining - it was crowded and very HOT and Muggy !!! Overall it was our worst trip to disney - we will never go back during that time again.

Sorry - just wanted to give you our experience with September.

I'll be there in Sept. too. We are running (walking, jogging, or meandering...) the Expedition Everest Challenge. I am worried about the heat for the race. But any day at the World is better than a day somewhere else! (IMO):lovestruc

We typically visit in September. Yes, it's hot and humid, but I'd NEVER describe it as rainy. Maybe an afternoon shower, but that brings some relief from the humidity.

We went this past May and comparing the weather to that of September was a major objective for me (the trip planning, spreadsheet making geek of the family). I'd say the actual temperature was as hot as September, but it didn't feel as humid to me.

The crowd seemed larger in May. Especially when we left WDW and visited US/IOA. There were lots of school groups at those two parks. We've never had much of a wait at these parks, but during this trip we actually purchased express passes for front-of-the-line access. It was an extra expense we hadn't anticipated, but without it, we would have spent most of the day standing in line. Though unexpected, let me say, it was an expense well worth the cost involved.

Aside from the weather & crowds, another consideration for us when comparing May and September would be the MK after-hours parties. We did the Pirates & Princess Party in May and had an absolutely fabulous time. We also had a fabulous time at MNSSHP in September 2005. Either of these are lots of fun and, I expect in the future, we'll choose to visit only during a time offering one of these parties (or MVMCP). These parties offer a chance to experience MK when the temperature is more pleasant and the crowd is much lighter.

Yeah, last year we found September to be much more crowded and hotter that we thought it would be. We still had fun, but we are going back in December this year.

I was pondering over what needs to be packed.. we're going 9/13-9/20th. If it's that hot is there a need at all for a light jacket or long sleeves AT ALL? I'm from Ohio (where it's hot one second and freezing the next - we never know what to wear! :upsidedow) I'm assuming I need to stick with tank tops and skirts/shorts for the kids, right? Thanks!!

We have gone to WDW every September since 1996. This is the first year we are skipping and heading down in December. We have never felt the need for anything other then t's and shorts. It is too hot for anything long.
But, I do know my sister had to buy a sweat shirt for my nephew last September while they were out to dinner. They said he was freezing because of the AC. I can safely say we have never had that problem. :goodvibes

Thanks ! That's what I was remembering from our last Sept trip. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't way off. It'll be alot different for us bringing a baby this time around. I'll just be sure to bring a couple real light jackets for dinner times.

We've gone the last three Septembers--the first week. It has been hot and humid two of those three years (last year it averaged 94 every day and was very humid); the rain was not much at all (last year it poured for 45 minutes our day of arrival, one afternoon for about 30 minutes and our last full day there for three hours).

Temperature wise, September may not be any hotter than May, but it's way more humid. There were more afternoon showers in early September than my two May trips, but only one that lasted more than an hour (and it was a doozy).

The only thing I needed long sleeves for was the airplane :) I'm extremely cold natured, and I didn't even get cold in any of the restaurants. I'm also in the minority about rain panchos. I'd much rather be soaking wet than feel like I'm in a steam sauna.

I agree with Jamstew....We've gone the last two Septembers and then this past May. September is more humid, but they're both about the same temps. We bring a sweatshirt on the plane, and it normally goes in our suitcase and doesn't come out again until we land at home. But it's always good to have one, just in case. We never bring long pants for anyone, it's useless.
As far as rain, our first Sept we had NO rain, not ONE drop the entire week. Last year we had one rainy day (all day) and two rainy nights. Made it a little cooler though, so we weren't complaining!
