Hi Everyone,
I just wondered if any of you on here would be able ot give me a little advice about disney weather in September.

Am I likely to experience much rain?etc.

Also I will be staying at Sequoia lodge and just wondered if any of you could actually give me some positives about staying there, cos I seem to read is that it needs refurbishing and is not very clean!!!! HELP:confused3

Thanks x

September in Europe is like April. You can have wonderful warm weather (not hot but very warm) but there is also the risk that you have rain and cold weather on many days. But in the last years the weather in September was OK! So September could be the perfect month to go! Not too hot anymore and not too cold yet!

The SL is a great hotel! (As every Disney Hotel!) It was just refurbished last year and like every hotel it is very clean! And if you love Mother Nature than it is the perfect hotel to go! You feel like in an American national park!
You will love it! :wizard:

We stayed at Yellowstone Lodge at SL on the weekend, it was an excellent location easy reach of reception, shuttle buses or to walk around the lake. However, the room definately hadn't been refurbished recently, don't get me wrong it was clean and the soft furnishings were immaculate but the woodwork was definately shabby, e.g. most of the varnish had peeled or was peeling off the inside of the bathroom door. There was no soap or bubble bath in the room when we arrived, we did however get 2 small soaps and a bubble bath, but no shampoo :confused3 left on Friday, and on Saturday we were left with only 1 small soap, no bubble bath even & no chocolate coins at all during our stay.
Overall I wasn't impressed - sorry!

Nooooooo!!!!

I haven't been to DLP before, and have been to wdw 5 times, however I am not going to compare the two because I understand they will both be completely different experiences!

However, I did expect the accomodation to be as magical as florida.
One more question
The SL doesn't feel like an ordinary run of the mill hotel does it?
I mean it still has a disney feel/atmosphere about it doesn't it?

Also I am flying from Cardiff to CDG and my return flight is not til 7pm so will the SL hold my luggage or will I have to drag it everywhere with me? x

Bare in mind this is just 1 person's experience of one room in a hotel of over 1,000 rooms, I read similar stories about the NPB last year before our visit but our room was immaculate as were the parts of the hotel I saw and how much time will you spend in the hotel anyway ? For us it's usually bed, bath and breakfast only.
We've stayed at SF, Cheyenne, SL and NPB now - my favourite is still the NPB, 2nd favourite would be the Cheyenne, then SL followed by SF, but they all enjoy the same Disney atmosphere in as much as there are 1 or 2 characters around the hotel for photo opportunites and there is a Disney shop. The breakfast was very civilised at SL we were escorted to a table by a CM with no delay and there is some wonderful memorabilia in the hotel to add to the Mountain Lodge theming - I probably would've been happier inside the main building, but an upgrade wasn't possible as the hotel was full.
I'm sure there'll be many more members on here who will have had very good experiences at SL.:)

September is a quiet time to go, so if you are (very) unlucky and get a tatty room, then I would go back and ask to be put in one that isn't! Obviously there wasn't any thing that Jill could have done, as she went at a very busy time. And FWIW I've been reading quite a few posts about tatty, tired rooms at WDW!! It seems that it's just as much of a concern over there!!

I don't think that SL is like a run of the mill hotel - indeed, I wouldn't mind all hotels looking like any of the ones at DLP (except possible the outside of the Santa Fe)!! But have you had a look at the virtual visits? You can get an idea of what SL is like, or see if you prefer any of the other onsite hotels.

And yes, all of the Disney hotels will store your luggage for you until it's time to leave. :)

We stayed last year November for the first time there, we had a room in the main building and loved it. Our room was spacious and cozy and we didn`t have the feeling that it needed refurbishing. I really liked breakfast there, from the food and the atmosphere. Being used to staying at the Santa Fe (and there were rooms that really cried for a refurbishing, we had missing tiles in the bathroom:scared1: ) that it was a total new experience of staying at Disney.
I haven`t stayed at the other DLP hotels, so don`t know how SL is compared to that. :confused3
But I would immediately go there again!:wizard:

Thanks both,
I appreciate what your saying.
I have booked to stay in a montana room anyway which I assume is in the main lobby builing.
My mother and I have spent ages trying to pick a hotel and almost went for the Cheyenne but in the end chose SL because of its location I guess and I liked the theming.

Glad to hear that breakfast is enjoyable and not too crazy!

I am soo excited to be going, even if it is 5 months away!

Is it true there are no fireworks in September onwards (winter months) except on the weekend?

Hi
We have stayed at the Sequoia Lodge a couple of times,in both a Montana and standard room and would definately recommend it.
The hotel has a lovely feeling and the cast members really helpful.
Although the Montana room was clean, it was a little shabby and in need of a bit of a overall(one of the electric points was hanging off ) but this definately did not affect our overall impression of the hotel.
IMO, it does have a Disney feel!!

We have been at the end of September and the weather was very hot.

Have a great time

I'm afraid there aren't any fireworks, full stop! DLP hardly ever has fireworks, except on a few special occasions. But you will get to see Candleabration every night. It just started this weekend and, from the feedback so far, sounds great. :thumbsup2

Just wondering who are you flying with? We're going in September and could only find flights from Bristol near us, Cardiff would've been much easier. Also any idea how much they were if you don't mind me asking?

Hi

We stayed at SL the first time we visted DLRP two years ago and had a great time.

Our room was in the main building and was very tidy and comfortable at that time. The staff were very helpful, always willing to answer any questions. The only draw back was the long queue for checkin, however I hadn't come across this forum at that point so didn't have the benefit of all the advise about checkin etc, well worth checkin in early if possible and using express checkout.

We went end of Sep beginning of Oct and the weather that year was better than when we went in August last year, however its easy to carry a jumper in a backpack and you can get the yellow DLRP cover's to wear so rain isn't really a problem.

Have a great time.

I am flying with Flybe. Apparently they didn't actually begin flying to CDG from Cardiff until this month.
Price wise well for 2 adults I found a flight for approx. 231.96 and 132.96 it all depends on the time of yr, which time of day and which day of week.

They fly every day from what I can gather and I think they fly twice a day
Hope this helps.

One more thing everyone, has anyone done the fantasyland breakfast?

My mum considered us doing it for a change instead of hotel every day.

Do you mean the Good Morning Fantasyland Breakfast? If so, we have always done that on our trips, it`s not a great food choice and the atmosphere isn`t that nice but it gets you early in the park and you can go on many Fantasyland rides before the crowds arrive and you can then go to another part of the park. I always like going through the park early mornings without so many people.

Yep I did mean the GMFL breakfast, sorry.

Slightly off the subject, I have a lot of food allergies, my main one being nuts!

I know some of you may not be able ot help with this but anyone who can would be much appreciated.

I know at WDW they are excellent when I explain my alleriges and they can not do enough for me. Has anyone encountered the same or similar experience at DLP?

Thanks x

You may get a bit more response putting this in a separate thread :)
