September UY, PLEASE help

Hi.

If I have September 2021 UY and I book a trip after September but before August 2022 and I cancel my trip before penalty, when do I need to use my points? I know there really is t availability, but what would happen if I found something.

If you bank them before the end of April they could be moved to to the 2022 UY and used then otherwise they would need to be used by the end of August 2022.

September 2021 UY points are good for trips from Sept 1, 2021 until August 31, 2022.

If you book and cancel anytime 31 days or more, they return to your account in the same status as used in the reservation. If it is before April 30th, 2022, then you can bank them.

Any banked 2020 points you have will expire end of August, 2022.

Did you booked with banked or borrowed points, or just that year's allotment? Did you cancel before the banking deadline?

Thank you both. I havent booked yet with the September 2021 points that Iwould be using and they are not banked. Just regular September 2021. So, if I book after September 1 and cancel I have to use by August 2022 If. Ot banked in April 2022, is that correct?

Correct. Just has to cancel the trip at least 31 days in advance of check in.

Any closer and the points become holding points which means they can not be banked, expire at the end of August 2022, and can only be used for trips you are booking 60 days or less from check in.

You keep mentioning booking after September 2021. When you book is irrelevant, what matters is the date of the trip. If you want to take a trip on may 2nd of 2022, you could book that right now and use your Sept 2021 points. The system looks at the date of the trip, and determines that date is in your 2021 use year. It knows what points you will have at that time, and will let you book with them now, even though you don't have them now.

Yes, I am mentioning when I am going to book in case it can help someone answer me better. My daughter is having a baby end of August/beginning of September, so I do know I am not leaving until after September. Thanks so much!

There's often some confusion about when someone books vs. when they are booking the reservation for.

Saying "when you book" means the dates you're booking the reservation for to some people, but to others it might be interpreted to mean when you actually go online (or call) and make (book) the reservation.

PP is correct in saying that you can book the reservation now for a stay after September. The point is that you don't have to (and probably shouldn't) wait until September to make (book) the reservation. You can book a reservation for any dates up to 11 months out now.
