This may sound like overkill on the character meals. But there is a reason for it! DS (2 1/2 come trip time) has warmed up to the characters, and would spend 24/7 with them, if possible. We figure while he's this young, and this into the "magic", we'll stay cheap, and eat meals with his best friends. When he's older, and done with the character scene (but I hope that's a long way off!!), we'll eat cheap, and stay at the resort with the nicest pools!

Here's what we have at this point:

Wednesday, September 15
Breakfast at Cape May

Thursday, September 16
Princess Storybook Breakfast, Norway
Ice Cream Social, Garden Grill, The Land

Friday, September 17
Breakfast at CRT (Hurray!!!)

Saturday, September 18
Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare
Dinner at Chef Mickey's (this could change, but we have PS for now)

Sunday, September 19
Breakfast at Chef Mickey's

PSB, CRT, and 1900 Park Fare will be new for us, as will dinner at Chef Mickey's. DS is most excited about PSB; DH and I are most excited about CRT. Who doesn't want to eat in the castle??

well with boys we found CRT to be a bit overrated, but its cool to be able to say you did it.

youre missing our two favorite characture meals: Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner and Donalds Breakfastasaurus (get a PS for before opneing).

Two others that are great for this age but dont have charactures are the Coral Reef (arrive early and ask to wait for a tak side table) and Whispering Canyon.

having dinner at LTT in December. Can't wait, we have heard such great things about it!

As for the Donald Breakfast, we've heard many mixed reviews...but we won't be going to AK this trip, anyway. Our goal is to eventually try all the character meals.

I questioned taking DS to the princess meals, but he LOVES the princesses (he says they are "very pretty"!), and is especially asking about Snow White and Belle. We think he will really enjoy PSB. CRT is mainly for mine and my husband's benefit. Partly to eat in the castle, but partly so DH could be on the phone at 7am to make the PS and have a story to tell! :-)

My plan is very similar to yours and I am going the week after you with DS 21/2 and DD4. We were there this past Dec. I would advise you though that as much as my daughter absolutely loved CRT (and it was the highlight of her stay), my son was almost equally unimpressed. We had a hard time keeping him from crying at the table and keeping him at the table at all. He very much disliked the princesses. On the other hand, he was Mr. outgoing at the Garden Grille (dinner), LTT (dinner), and CP's (dinner). We didn't do breakfasts our last stay but I have heard that Cape May is fantastic. O'Hana's or Donald's at AK would also be good choices if you don't want to do Chef Mickey's twice. If you plan on staying the day in Epcot, you might want to do dinner at the Grille instead of ice cream. It was really good and there was a lot of character interaction. The kids loved their dirt and worms ice cream. My DS ate every bite (except those that he was wearing).

Don't worry about being heavy on the character meals. In my opinion not only is the highlight of the kids vacation, but also you actually get to eat your meal. As much as I enjoy unique food and fine dining, I would much rather have a good 'ol American meal that I can actually eat, then a really tasty meal that gets cold and never really enjoyed while I'm trying to keep the kids occupied.

Your schedule looks great. Have a great time!! It is so great seeing the little one's eyes light up at the characters.

Looks good! Just wanted to say we will be there the 15-19 also. I am so excited!

Personally my family enjoys Chef Mickey for dinner over breakfast.

Also, even though we dont have September hours yet, Saturday night may be your best (or only) Spectro & Wishes night. If you could time it right, would be nice to be at CR.

My DS (now 6) has loved the character meals since he was 2-it saves on waiting in line later and I think that it has helped him from being afraid of the characters. I should mention that the only "characters" he didnt like were the princesses at breakfast-my DH on the other hand took full advantage of having his picture taken .:D

Enjoy!

I know some people think we go heavy on the character meals too, but I love it. This way we aren't chasing characters all over the place and also most character meals are buffets so the kids don't have to wait forever and get fidgety. It makes our life easier and they love the interaction with the characters. This trip we're doing Chef MIckey's, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, LTT and Garden Grill. Of course we're doing Ohana', Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time too. It's funny I even found a character meal at US/IOA - we're having breakfast with the Cat in the Hat!

Looks great! :) We, too, really love the character meals & view them as a highlight from our trips. We'd rather spend the money there than on many other things.

Does your DS like Pooh & characters? Crystal Palace at the MK is our absolute favorite breakfast in all of WDW. The food is just delicious here with so many options, & I love eating with Tigger. If your DS might enjoy it, I'd definitely try to fit this in. HTH! :)

Good morning everyone!

We are only going to be in the parks on Thursday and Friday. Because we are doing the princess breakfasts at both MK and Epcot, we don't want to spend more park time at character meals-that's why we're not doing CP. However, DS does like the Pooh characters...that's how we came to have a PS for 1900 Park Fare for breakfast. We enjoyed the Chef Mickey's breakfast tremendously last year. It was DS's first experience with the characters, and it was a great one! Looking forward to it again. Going back to Cape May for breakfast, mainly to see the 2 CMs we met last time (May) who were so nice to us. The meal was good, too, but it was very crowded then, we're hoping it will be a bit better this trip. Only reason for going back to Chef Mickey's for dinner was that we have never tried a character dinner, and we preferred seeing Mickey and Friends again as opposed to Cinderella (at 1900 Park Fare). I believe those were our only 2 non-park dinner options.

This will be DS's 4th trip to WDW, and so far he has interacted well with all the characters (princesses included). We'll see what happens! After the trip, I'll post our reviews and impressions!
:sunny:

Looks great to me! I'm planning several character meals for our trip too, and either Cindy's or PSB will be on the list, but if I get Cindy's, I probably won't do PSB too. This will be our boys' first trip to WDW, and I'm hoping they love the character meals.

Enjoy them, while he eats there for free!

We will also be at CRT on the September 17. Can't wait !! Michelle
