September or October

Several years ago, we would go to WDW in October. Then we started going in September the last few years. Does anyone have any ideas as to which month the parks would be less crowded, September or October? DH is thinking we should go in October this year since we went last September and had to dodge the hurricanes.

Hurricane season is in October, too so I don't know that that should be the deciding factor. I'd go in October for the Food and Wine Fest at Epcot, cooler temperatures. Crowds aren't bad at all in October as long as you avoid Columbus day.

Sept is less crowded but Oct has more fun things going on like Food & Wine festival and MNSSHP. We have been in Sept and Oct several times and never had any hurricane problems.

I couldn't decide if we should go in Sept or Oct last year and we eneded up going the end of September through the first part of October! It was great the crowds were not bad at the end of Sept, we got to expierence the F&W festival, we also did MNSSHP as well. I did notice that a lot more people came in on the Wed and Thur of Columbus day weekend though. I think a lot of schools have a few days off in October as well. Here in MN most schools have an MEA week and get a Thursday and Friday off in the middle of the month.

I've done both too.

I think September is hotter and has more rain and more chances for hurricanes BUT I believe it's less crowded.

I think October's weather is amazing and it never rained for us and no hurricanes. The crowds were managable and not bad but bigger then September.

I personally prefer October.

Septmeber is less crowded by far
Oct has F&WF
I went last year in Oct and did not think the longer waits were worth it.
but I would rather sit and eat a meal not try small portions
and the wine, you can have that any time of the yesr anywhere
Disney has a roaming liquor license-you can drink anywhere on Disney property any time. :cool1:

September and October both have positives and negatives and it just depends on if you want smaller crowds (Sept) or better weather (Oct). And I know some would debate on the better weather in October, but September traditionally has a lot more rain. Rain average for Sept is 6 inches and for October is 2 inches. When we were there last October the temps stayed in the mid-80s and it only rained one day. Since the F&W Festival and MNSSHP are both in October the crowds are a bit heavier. To me the decision is between crowds and weather. I'd pick October.

Since I like October so much, should I start encouraging people to go in Sept or Nov that way the crowds in October stay managable? :rolleyes1 I think I'll start telling people to go in Sept that way there will be one less person standing in line at HM with me. :teeth:
