I'm thinking of going in September or October, already keeping in mind that September is prime hurricane season. What do you think would be the best week to go during that span as far as crowd levels and weather patterns are concerned ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

September:
May offer free dining, the weather is hot and sticky, MNSSHP begins.

October (my favorite): Moderate weather, Food and Wine, MNSSHP

I think both months have reasonable crowd levels.

I usually go in October but got a pin for FD and so I'm going to brave the September heat.......heaven help me! ;)

Hi,

September crowds are among the lightest of the year at WDW. October crowds are a little heavier but still moderate to the low side of moderate. In general, weekends are busier than weekdays. September is quite hot, and so is much of October.

Bob-

I've been the last two weeks in October and I've never had trouble with the heat...but all the dire warnings about the heat in September scare me....Is it THAT much hotter than October?

Thank you so much! September looks only 5 degrees hotter than my October dates have been. I feel much better now.

We were there the last full week of September last year. It was hot but tolerable. We have reservations for the week bridging Sept and Oct this year.

It only rained a couple of times for short bursts. We did spend most afternoons at the resort either resting or in the pool. It was nice to have a break in the middle of the day.

The worst part for us was the lovebugs showed up. My younger dd was freaked out by them, and they seemed to swarm by the slide at the pool (don't know why - it's just where they were). It didn't bother me, dh, or dd#1, but dd#2 was not a happy camper.

We will be in WDW 9/26-10/4. It will be our 3rd September trip. We love this time of year. No crowds and the weather was fine. We don't even worry about hurricanes. Orlando is far enough inland that they don't seem to be that big of a deal. Enjoy.

Thanks to the Bounceback deal we got last Sept, we'll be there the exact same time as you.:cool1: We've gone the last several years in Sept (first week once, third week twice, last week Sept/first week Oct once) and love this time of year. We have not been able to tell a noticable difference between the first and last week of Sept as far as tempertures go. The entire month is hot and humid, but not too bad.

We are also going Sept 25-30th on the free dining....

Honestly, I was just there the first week of Feb - a traditionally really slow time - and the weather was COLD - and it was PACKED. The first Saturday we were there, I swear it was more crowded @ MK than the time we went for Spring Break!!!

I think with all the promotions that Disney is offering, and with people pinching their pennies, the value seasons for the next couple years are going to have *much* heavier crowds than in the past.

I've been in the end of Sept and the weather was warm, but fine (mid 80's, I believe) and it did rain a couple times in the afternoon, but was totally manageable. I've also been in Oct (Oct 2001 --- talk about LOW CROWDS - there was NO ONE there) and the weather was perfect (low to mid 80's every day, cool at n ight).

Anyway.

YAY! Disney!

Go to Disney almost every October since 2002. Crowds are moderate. Weekends a little busier then the weekdays. There weather can be warm. Only had one trip it was in the 90s, most the time it seems to be low 80s. But the evenings do cool off.

Love October. Our first trip was accidental--we went planning on spending our time at Universal Studios (gasp:scared1:) and bought the old Park Hoppers. We used 2 days out of 5. The next year we discovered the deals you could get staying onsite and the Food and Wine Festival (and the DIS:goodvibes) and haven't looked back. F&W is a must-do for us every year, even after 7 back-to-back years!

Sorry to go OT but I've seen this mentioned a few times....what are lovebugs? and why do they need to be mentioned?

I'm glad you asked the question cuz I was wondering what lovebugs were too! We will be at FW Cabins, first time for DH, DS and DD and I haven't been there since 1975, from 9/20-9/30. Yippee!!

Do they bit or are they bothersome? Is it a big deal?

They do not bite, they are harmless. The only thing that bothersome is if your child is anything like mine and ask a million time "Mommy why are those bugs stuck together??":rotfl: Answer is, they are friends and just holding hands.
