We have only every been in late July or Early august until 2 years ago when we went the first week of March. It was wonderful then, and would love to find another time that the crowds were similar. We are planning another trip in 2009 and are looking at late september to mid october. Which of these times do ya'll think are better for lite crowds and cooler weather? Also what do ya'll think about the MNSSHP? This is also something we are considering.
TIA!!!:dance3:

WE love the second week of Sept. The kids are back in school so it isn't that crowded and the weather is perfect We always do the MNSSHP well worth the money

We love going in October and we also go in March. The October crowds are pretty good early in the month. You'd also be there for the F&W Festival. We love MNSSHP and go each year. We have a blast. September can be good too because kids are back in school, although with free dining typically offered in September, the crowds may be more than what they used to be-we haven't gone in September in quite a few years. Weather is obviously not as hot in October. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

We're going the week before Columbus Day, not going to MNSSHP, but spending a lot of time at F&W. YUMMMM! We've heard this was a good time. We've been in April, late June, July and early Dec. All have been crowded but doable. FP helps make things go smoother for us. We're excited to go as the kids get older and we can do more things with them. They both love the rides and DD#2 is 42 inches tall so she can't do everything yet but is excited to ride ToT for the first time and can't wait to ride TT again.

Does Columbus day or F&WF effect crowds? DH does not like waiting in long lines, so typically lines longer than 1 hr are skipped. He says it waste too much time standing for 1 hour that last 5 mins when there are PLENTY of other things to do and see. What are line like this time of year?

Yes. The last two years we went the week prior to Columbus weekend and over the weekend itself. By Thursday heading into the holiday weekend we saw a marked difference in crowd levels at all parks. F&W Festival is definitely more crowded on weekends than during the week, maybe just a tad more over Columbus weekend than a normal weekend for F&W. Yes, the holiday weekend will have you waiting in lines, but be smart and use FP for the major stuff and you should be just fine. It is nowhere near unbearable. We won't wait in hour long lines either and never had to yet at this time of year.

I gone have during the week of Columbus Day the past 2 years. I like only having to take off 4 days from work to go :) I can say that the weekend and the Monday holiday are quite busy at the parks, especially EPCOT. The Food and Wine Festival attracts many of the Florida Resident passholders on the weekends, so that coupled with a holiday weekend can make for some longer lines. But I never found them unmanageable, and the FWF is more about eating and drinking around the world, not going on Soarin'.

Even with the crowds, the fact that you get FWF makes October a better choice. Maybe hit AK or DHS on the weekend and save EPCOT for midweek.

The weather is better IMO in October. September high avg. is 90, low is 72. October high avg is 85 and low is 65. And historically September is a wetter month as it rains about 3 more inches than October.

We are going in September this year only because I was able to trade my timeshare into the Boardwalk. Otherwise, it would have been October again. FWF will be missed :sad2: , but at least we'll still get to go to MNSSHP in September.

The only other time I went in September was in '04, about a week after 2 hurricanes hit central FL in a row. Hoping for good weather this September.
